Daughter of Destiny: Guinevere's Tale Book One, by Nicole Evelina begins the series. The writing is clear and organized. It is a new view of Guinevere and her life as a child and young woman. The story is a tale about Guinevere's years at Avalon and being a priestess. Her character is a strong individual, a strong female. She makes friends and enemies. Her psyche abilities of prediction lead her home again. She experiences physical love and the power of friendships. The social context of a female in this period of history binds women to the needs of men, and for Guinevere, her Father directs her future.

Book 1 is beautifully written and well organized. The historic facts of the period are mostly silent about Guinevere. This story gives the myth of young Guinevere shape and reason. The text and style are easy to read. Readers of fantasy and myth will enjoy the novel as it adds another layer of possibility to history.

There are many novels written about King Arthur and Camelot. The author, Nicole Evelina, of Camelot's Queen: Guinevere's Tale Book 2, provides a unique view of Guinevere in this series. The story describes the complex issues in being Guinevere, the Queen. Her previous alliances, her enemies, her days as Queen, are all intricately woven with the human person. The social context of a female in this period of history binds the woman/Queen to the rules of men. Amidst the expectations of men and her social obligations, she falls from grace as familial elements and old enemies doom her Queen-ship. In the end she retains herself, different, yet surviving.

Book 2 is beautifully written and well organized. The historic facts of the period are mostly silent about Camelot. This story brings the myth of Guinevere to light in human terms. The text and style are easy to read. Those interested in Camelot will find this book provides humanity for Guinevere, a context often lost amide the magic.

This was an interesting and in-depth analysis of what is arguably one of the most popular shows in TV history. Even today, you can hear it referenced. I was intrigued when I read the blurb, and it's made me want to go back and watch the show, which I never really got into when it was airing. (But I may have been in the wrong age range for the target audience back then). I greatly appreciate that Evelina looks at both the positives and negatives of the show, not shying away from critiquing as much as praising. If you're interested in the show, or how iconic shows affect pop culture, you'll likely enjoy this book.… (mere)

This is a feel good book. It was fun to read, I laughed sometimes and cried at others. I loved Annabeth and her sister, I loved her friendship with Miles and I loved the development of her relationship with Alex. I also hated Mia and Nick. This is a modern, clean, romantic novel with strong bold characters.
