"Law" is, no matter how you look at it, misapplied in describing the contents.

I really liked this collection of Bob's writings which seem to have been selected by his wife Anne Brooksbank. He was another writer who has left us too early. I really liked some of his articles on Gough Whitlam whom it seems was special to Bob.

"Goodbye Jerusalem" was a huge book back in the day; Author Bob Ellis was riding a level of fame in Australia not usually reserved for speechwriters, and this was something of a tell-all book, complete with defamation lawsuits from then Australian Treasurer Peter Costello and his wife.

Ellis lost the lawsuit and the section pertaining to the Costello's was expurgated. I read the expurgated edition while on a European holiday, so perhaps my views on "Goodbye Jerusalem" were tainted somewhat but I really couldn't see the point.

Ellis tends to ramble a bit and lionises Australian Labor figures, ascribing greatness on some that more unbiased commentators consider mediocre.

Still, it was an amusing (if now somewhat dated) read that may interest the politically minded.

Today 3ABN television and radio networks are seen and heard on every inhabited continent of the world via a network of satellites, television and radio stations, cable systems and the Internet. They are the second largest owners of UHF television stations in the United States and are developing new full power television and radio stations worldwide.… (mere)
