James is a short and relatively uncomplicated book. You wouldn't think someone could get this deep with James. You'd think wrong. I feel like a lot Bible stories are good at helping understanding of aspects of the Bible's teaching with the study enhancing the scripture and bringing it to life, but not a rigorous study to be sure.

This one will make you work for it. Each passage of James is studied over 5 days and I spent about 90 minutes per week. It really made me think critically and deeply and brought in other scriptures and passages. The author put some time and effort into this study - it was less perspective and more of a a true study. Would work for independent study and sets up some interesting discussion questions if you work towards it as a group.

My only complaint is the publisher formatting--this book could benefit from additional room to write in answers for questions. The space given was not generous. But, if that's the worst I can say about it......… (mere)
