Dedicated to kids who play sports, focus on their schoolwork, and participate in their community, Sports Illustrated Kids celebrates players who are well-rounded and active in life. Alternating between stories of professional sports stars and features about kids who are stars in their field. The theme of the magazine is getting out and trying new things. The annual Sports Kid of the Year story, features 14-year-old wakeboard champion Noah Flegel, who competes, studies, and volunteers within his community.
Clearly targeted towards 12-14 year olds, SI Kids features articles that have rich content, but also have great visuals. The stories run the gamut from human interest to interesting facts, are well sized (features are four page spreads, while human interest runs 1 page) and easily browsable. Overall, a good choice for any kid who likes to participate in and read about sports.… (mere)
