Divided into five chapters it covers various alphabets and non-alphabetic writing systems, mnemonic devices, writing technology and materials, early manuscripts and books, and the invention of printing. The book is illustrated with numerous well-selected and captioned photographs; the text is almost unexceptionable.

Book was published in 1992 but it was the only one on Estonia I could get at my local library. Interesting history of a country was was ruled and influenced by Russia for so many years.
