The permanent collection on display at Dulwich Picture Gallery is small enough to be canvassed in a single leisurely visit. But for a second visit, I would return with this excellent and compact book in hand. It selects and discusses about three dozen of the best works, with good insight and historical context. This provides a pathway through the array of paintings, and deepens appreciation. The book also is a great memento of a visit to the Gallery, with fine images of favorite paintings.
