One big point of information was the idea that the South would be crushed in the coming campaign, and thus no greater expense, or much involvement on R&D need occur is shown in this book. Those of us who ask themselves, "How come every USA soldier didn't have a metal cartridge breech-loading rifle by 1864?" are answered here.
