There is something in this book for everyone, parents, kids, elderly, leaders...
The author writes clearly. The first 3-6 chapters are the most important while the remainder elaborate on those earlier ones.
I was surprised how large the positive influence of parents were in a child's level of tolerance, not just for 8 year olds, but 16 year olds, and also how essential it is. I was also surprised how difficult it is to change an adult's personality towards tolerance, underscoring how important it is to start young.
According to the author, everyone has some intolerance and some of the later chapters deal with revealing it and dealing with it.
This is a very worthwhile book.… (mere)

The Civil Rights Movement was a pivotal event in American History. While we are able to easily certain figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Rosa Parks we have slowly forgotten others that died so that everyone in the nation could be free.

Some good stuff in here, including helpful journaling questions for probing your own intolerance attitudes and strategies for educating your children. Mostly this was pretty basic.
