Fergus Reid Buckley was born in Paris, France on July 14, 1930. He graduated from Yale University in 1952. During the Korean War, he served as a second and then first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. While living in Spain, he wrote the novel Servants and Their Masters. In the early 1960s, he vis mere became contributing editor to the conservative National Review and Triumph magazines. In 1965, his second novel, Eye of the Hurricane, was published. He founded the Buckley School of Thought, Reflection and Communications. Over its three decades, some 6,000 people took week-long seminars there on public speaking, writing and communication.
