Lots of interesting stuff for the more technically minded historian and the more technically minded the more you'll get out of it I think.
Gorgeous. Even though it's a picture book, it's not really for the very youngest children, but Christians and students of folklore will all appreciate the themes of hubris and honor. The lovely and bright illustrations fit perfectly.
I especially appreciate the way that Abigail looks & & acts & talks exactly like a child of today, and most of the other people are recognizable as people, too. That is to say, too often stories that take place 'in the olden times' feel distant, and therefore irrelevant. This was not updated into a modern setting, but it does feel very real and thought-provoking.
The words from the (King James) bible are in the jacket flap. If the copy you read no longer has its jacket, see The Book of Daniel, chapters 4 & 5.
