Jordyn needs Gabe in her life, whether she realizes or admits it or not. She’s hurting, and even though she’s come to Silver Valley temporarily to hide and heal, she’s making pretty slow progress with that. Her thoughts still turn inward with a large helping of self-pity: why did this happen to me, what am I to do now, life’s not fair. She’s a more than proficient nurse practitioner, but her big-city attitude leaves something to be desired in her empathy for her patients and her bedside manner. She firmly believes in alternative healing, and you can almost see the eye roll and irritated head shake and hear her thinking small-town yokels when her patients or other medical professionals don’t immediately buy into what she is saying. She truly cares about healing, but patience with her patients is something she needs to work on.

You can’t compare one person’s pain with another’s. Everyone responds in their own way, grieves in their own way, heals in their own way. Gabe is hurting, too. He paid a very high price for his actions in the past. But unlike Jordyn, he looks outward as he works to help others. He works hard to be calm, peaceful, and understanding. Non-judgmental.

Gabe and Jordyn work nights, he as a paramedic and she as the night physician on call, so they encounter each other often, and boy do those sparks fly. Their attraction was instant and it’s just kept growing. But Jordyn sees her time in Silver Valley as only temporary and Gabe has secrets he is afraid would push her away. Of course secrets don’t always manage to stay secret, and sometimes the heart tells you that your rational plans may not be your future.

Thanks to author Allie Boniface for providing an advance copy of Healing a Wounded Heart for my reading pleasure and honest review. Allie Boniface can write a love story like nobody else. Even when her characters are behaving badly she makes you see into their soul and wish as hard as you can for the best for them. Gabe and Jordyn deserve a happy ever after. Read this book to see if they get it. I loved this story and so will you. All opinions are my own.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I want to move to Drake Isle and never leave. You know how some series make you feel you know every inch of the landscape, every member of the community and want to immerse yourself in every bit of life there? Well, thanks to author Allie Boniface that’s Drake Isle.

We’ve already met most of the people there and been with them through happiness and tragedy, heartbreak, second chance love and the story of the long-unsolved murder at the college and the ghost haunting it. The hunky Nolan brothers, Police Chief Andy McCabe who was first on the scene at the college murder so long ago, the strong, sexy women who come into their lives. Storms, mudslides, family, loyalty, crime, betrayal. So what’s left? This absolutely delightful novella is what’s left.

Of course we’ve met big brother Aidan before. He’s the handsome, elusive playboy bachelor who runs the family restaurant on the mainland. Matters of the heart are short-lived for him because he has no intention of settling down. He hasn’t met any women that make him think his life might be missing something, that maybe his brothers have the right idea after all. Until now.

His best friend growing up had a little sister. Cute but a pest, always wanting to hang out with them, just a kid. Aidan is on Drake Isle to help his brother build high-end homes. Temporary. Jules is that little sister. She’s on Drake Isle to photograph Fool’s Jewel seaweed in what could be the big break she needs for her career. Also temporary.

When Aidan and Jules meet by chance you can see the sparks fly. In fact, you can almost see their hearts thumping in their chests like cartoon characters. She knows exactly who he is: her big brother’s friend, the one she had the crush on forever. And doggone it, he still seems to have that effect on her. Aidan needs a couple of clues to catch up and realize who she is. Wow, she’s not so little anymore. But still cute, and maybe still a pest the way she instantly gets into his head.

At first it seems a purely physical attraction. And then maybe not. But whatever, nothing long-term is going to come of this. He’s still handsome, charming Aidan. Maybe doesn’t kiss and tell, but certainly kisses and leaves. Relationships don’t work out for him, and especially one that would be long-term and long-distance. And while she’s crushing as strong as ever, maybe even more so, Jules has barely moved past some serious heartbreak and betrayal. So giving her heart to this confirmed bachelor would not be a good idea.

Author Allie Boniface has a knack, no, a skill, for creating people and places that feel really real. They are your friends, or your annoying neighbors, and you are surrounded by the beauty of Drake Isle. You are drawn in so that you feel what they feel, want what they want, and fear what they fear. It’s wonderful. Each and every book is a joy, and Jewel of the Isle is no exception. Lose yourself with Aidan and Jules, enjoy mini-reunions with Quinn, Polly, Liam, Brody, Andy, Kate and all the others. Relax on the beach, experience the storms and the danger from both nature and sinister humans.

Thanks to the author for providing an advance copy of Jewel of the Isle for my reading pleasure and honest review. A pleasure indeed. I have been following this fabulous author for years and get that same warm, comfortable, at home feeling each and every time after reading just a chapter or two. I thoroughly enjoyed Jewel of the Isle and recommend it without hesitation. Read it now, and then give yourself the joy of reading everything else Allie Boniface has to offer. All opinions are my own.

On the one hand, I could just copy one of my previous reviews for one of Allie Boniface’s other books. Not because they are all the same – they most definitely are not. Each book has its own unique characters and story with unique heartaches and mystery and danger and suspense; you never know until the end what each tale will bring. But because of how each and every book, from the very first one I read long ago to this one, Chasing You, the 4th book in the Drake Isle series, makes you feel. And that is good, so good, so comfortable, so warm, so much a part of the story, so much at home. As soon as I read the first few paragraphs of one of author Boniface’s books I lose myself in the story. I’m not reading it. I’m experiencing it. I have a seat right on the sidelines watching how the relationships unfold and the unknowns becomes known. Some things you think you can guess – or you fervently hope the story will play out that way. Other things keep you guessing right up until The End.

We’ve taken the journey with Drake Isle Police Chief Andy McCabe for nearly twenty years now, starting when he was a new officer on the Drake Isle Police Force and was the unlucky one on call when the body of Piper Townsend was discovered at Misterion College. We’ve watched him struggle with that cold case, a case that never really turned cold for him. He feels he must solve it, that he somehow owes it to Piper to solve this long-ago mystery. He gets closer, but then things fall apart and he’s really nowhere. His dedication, and some stubbornness thrown in, has cost him in his personal life, because he’s not that young man anymore but 38 years old, without the wife and family he knows he would love and cherish, knows he needs. With no possibilities in sight. He’s happy, but a little bittersweet with a hole that yearns to be filled.

When Kate Kinney entered the picture my heart went pitty-pat. Could she be the one? There is certainly an immediate attraction between the two of them. But is she ready to trust love again, and is he capable of putting the past in the past and looking toward the future? And since we’ve known and loved Andy for so long, is she worthy?

Chasing You is full of familiar faces and relationships, the promise of new relationships that we want to see grow, and new faces we want to become familiar ones. Emotions are intense and unstoppable. The island is filled with love. Well, almost filled. If Andy is right someone was not filled with love when Piper died, and he may be getting too close to the truth.

Chasing You is small town, second chance romance and mystery at its best. I realized when I was about three-quarters of the way through that yes, once again I was going to read an Allie Boniface book in one sitting because it is just too good to put down. Time really does fly . . . . Thanks to author Allie Boniface for providing an advance copy of Chasing You for my reading pleasure and honest review. I loved this sweet, intense, beautiful story. All opinions are my own.

Author Allie Boniface brings her intriguing "Drake Isle Series" to a reader-gratifying conclusion with Book Four. "Chasing You". Seventeen years ago, Drake Isle rookie cop Andy McCabe had been called to the scene of a young woman's death on the campus of Misterion College. The unresolved case--did she jump, or was she pushed from the roof--would haunt residents of the island for years to come. The community was affected in many different ways. A black cloud of doubt and mystery seemed to hang in the air. While tourism on the picturesque island recovered fairly quickly, the college itself was closed for ten long years before it finally reopened and offered classes to students. Now almost forty, and the chief of police on the isle, Andy had never let go of the image of Piper Townsend's crumpled, lifeless body. Solving the case was never far from his mind--it affected every aspect of his life. When he meets Kate Kinney, a beautiful woman struggling through a nasty divorce, he begins to think more of Kate and somewhat less of his obsession with Piper Townsend's death. Kate is equally smitten with Andy--he's everything her ex-husband is not--and she is very ready to move forward to finding happiness in life. As their friendship and attraction grows, so do deeper feelings,--more permanent feelings--grow between them. However, each has their own troubling issues to overcome. Andy needs to find the truth of Piper's death. If it really was murder, then the killer must be brought to justice. Kate has to leave the past behind, learn to find joy in each day, and hope for a brighter future. Does that future include Andy? When all truths are revealed, will there be healing and new beginnings, and will Piper's restless spirit finally find peace and be at rest? I have greatly enjoyed this well-written, involving series, and I am looking forward to the upcoming spin-off series.
