Marc Blake is the author of Writing the Horror Movie and several books on comedy and comedy/sitcom writing. A stand-up comedian and comic novelist, he has had his own BBC radio series and has written for many famous comics and for numerous TV comedy shows.

Marc Blake was a writer and performer for over twenty years, beginning at the Tunnel Club in Greenwich under the tutelage of the late Malcolm Hardee.

He was a finalist in the first Hackney New act of the Year awards, the Laughing Horse New Act competition, the Metro/Evening Standard New Act of the year and 'So You Think You're Funny'. He was a regular at the Comedy Store and at many thousands of comedy venues nationwide, also performing in Holland, Belgium and Jersey. He played three-week runs at the Edinburgh Festival in 1990, 1993, 2004 and 2005.

He retired from live performing in 2012 and now directs short films. (Planet of the Apps, 2013, No Cake for Sarah, 2014)

He appeared in numerous televisions slots on Granada TV, Southern, Channels five and Four, the BBC Stand up show, ITV's Weapons of Mass Distraction and in his own ITV special 'Marc Blake and Friends', as well as creating and performing his own BBC Radio 2 series 'Whining for England.'

As comedy expert he appeared in Channel 4's Offensive guide to comedy and for the Dave Channel on their GSOH launch, also for the Granada TV series 'The Test.' He has worked with the Mu-Lan Chinese Theatre studios and for Riverside Studios where students produced three hours of recorded comedy. For the last three years he has been the comedy consultant for Taylor Herring PR for the ‘Dave Turns the Tables' event at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

He has guested on BBC Radio London, Talk Radio, LBC, Radio 2, Radio 4's Loose Ends and the Fred Macaulay show (BBC Scotland).

He has written for numerous TV and radio series including 'Spitting Image', Arnold Brown, Craig Charles, Frankie Howerd and Russ Abbott. Former students include performers Catherine Tate, Rudy Lickwood, Marc Lucero, Angelos Epithimiou and Joe Wilkinson, and writers Simon Blackwell (The Thick of It, In the Loop), David Scott and Ali Crockatt (Genius) and your name here.

He has written several comedy gift books for Boxtree as well as four comic novels, Sunstroke, Bigtime, 24 Karat Schmooze and Monkey Puzzle, also a YA period ghost novel ‘Spirit of the Blitz.’
