The book was ok, not what I was expecting. I have an internship working at Salvation Army with alcohol and drug addicts and I wanted to learn more about addiction and recovery so I asked a co-worker what books she would recommend and she gave me this one. The whole book is a conversation between a sponsor and his sponsee going through the 12 step program. I was expecting something geared more towards counselors and something more educational but instead it was like sitting in on their sessions as they go through the 12 steps. Also, from the blurb on the back of the book, the author is not a licensed counselor. If you want a book on addiction and recovery that's educational, I would not recommend this book but if you just want to see how one person's experience going through the 12 step program is then this would be a good book to read.… (mere)
