Tom Bahit holds a degree in anthropology from the University of New Mexico. He and his wife, Peggy, opened the Ghost Ranch Trading Post. He wrote books on artists of the region. Source: www.mark-bahti-btof.squarespace.com This book of Pueblo stories ends with a list of suggested reading. "The continued demand for Mark Bahti's delightful book about these figures and traditions from which they spring is a testament to their enormous appeal. Bahti has gathered together a collection of storyteller figures to show trends in the art form with text introducing each pueblo and its stories. Pronunciation notes help in reading them aloud, and photographs illustrate the process of making the dolls. 'Pueblo Stories and Storytellers' remain the most comprehensive. . .introduction to the subject on the market!" Source: www.thriftbooks.com… (mere)

Fascinating, both from an art history perspective and from a religious perspective. The effects that some of the artists obtain with sand and glue are quite amazing. My only criticism is that in places, I found the descriptions difficult to match up with the paintings ("He's holding what? Well, if you say so...")
