It is a super quick read with about 22 pages. It starts out fine and gets interesting very quickly. Right after the main suspense scene it gets a little bewildering. I think Jade was having some hallucinations. But the author is not clear on this. This section of the story could have been better used or at least more defined.
Because the story caught my imagination and kept me interested I looked up as much information on it as I could. Unfortunately everything in this series is listed is a bit tortuous way. Here is my understanding of what I found.
The Recruiter (22 pg), The Priestess (37 pg), and The Medium (67 pg) are novellas, though they are listed on Amazon as Book 1, 2 and 3. They are in fact .5, 1.5 and 2.5. The Recruiter is free, the other 2 are 2.99 each on Amazon.
The novels are The Priestess and The Vampire (book 1, 182 pg, 2.99) , The Holy Man and The Assassin (book 2, 220 pg, 3.99) and The Sorceress and The Demon (book 3, 276 pg, 4.49).
On the Amazon page for this book in its synopsis it says you can get the next book free if you go to Thea's website. That was NOT my experience. Maybe yours will be different.
Bottom line is the story was interesting, but trying to follow through with the rest of the series looks a bit like a headache. I will keep an eye on this series and maybe continue with it in the future. But reading for me is a joy. Having to do this much work just to find out what the next book in the series is took away from that joy. It did not take away from how good this story is. But is has made me leery.
