This is a lengthy book told from the point of view of a young deaf boy. The book does a great job explaining how young deaf children may feel in different social situations. I feel like this would be a good book for children to understand the disability, and for children who are deaf themselves. Two of the three authors have master's degrees in speech and hearing science, and the other author is a mother of a deaf child. All three are qualified to cover a topic as such. In the back of the book there is a sign language chart to teach some of the words used in the book in sign language. The illustrations were black and white, and drawn realistically. This book is great for kids who feel left out because of a disability. The little boy feels left out in a lot of situations because he simply cannot hear what anyone is saying. Even though his family helps him and takes the time to understand him, its the outside world that he wants to connect with. But without words, it makes it very difficult to have conversations with anyone. He just wants to grow up like everyone else. This book is relatable to any situation at any age. Summary:
This book is about a little boy who is deaf and about all the struggles he goes through everyday. The little boy gets frustrated a lot. The little boy thinks that when he grows up he won't have to wear his hearing aids anymore and that everything will be better, but he is wrong. An older boy at the school comes and talks to the little boys class and it makes the boy feel better and he is okay with being deaf.

Personal Reaction:
This book has a great story! I think it would give kids a better understanding of what deaf people go through and struggle with.

Classroom Extensions:
1)I would read it to a class and discuss the issue of being deaf and explain the hearing aids.
2) It would be a great book to read before a lesson on sign language.
