So this one was entertaining enough, maybe 2.75 stars or something. Its a suspended animation story, in plot something like Forever Young in tone more like American Pickle. Its a Farce, with a capital F for French.

The revived character a pretty stereotypical blustering loud character that causes chaos wherever he goes and gets away with it through ignorance and force of personality. It becomes downright cartoonish in places.
The humour is fairly basic so doesn’t age badly but it probably wasn’t that funny to begin with.

There are some interesting ideas in terms of the method of suspension, Tardigrades even make an appearance, i wasn’t even sure we discovered those before the invention of the electron-microscope but here they are in the 1860’s.

Not sure who if anyone i’d recommend this one too but it passed the time. As long as your braced for the farcical humour you might find some elements of interest here.

A short amusing novella about a Greek brigand on a large scale. This story intersects with Hamburg botanist, Hermann Schulz. The story rests around Hermann and two wealthy society ladies being kidnapped by the brigands and their escapes.

The book contains six novellas: Les jumeaux de l'hôtel Corneille, L'oncle et le neveu, Terrains à vendre, Le buste, Gorgeon, La mère de la marquise. They all deal with marriage: how to achieve it, how to arrange it. It was written in the 1850s and offers a delightful glimpse into Paris society at various levels. The writing is slightly sarcastic at times, but never cruel.
