This led to Oliver Cromwell appointing him dean of Christ Church Cathedral and vice-chancellor of Oxford University. Owen later declined the presidency of Harvard College and concentrated instead on his work in England as a leader of the Puritan and Congregationalist movements. THE GLORY OF CHRIST was Owen's last work. It takes the form of an extended series of meditations on John 17:24. In them Owen urges the constant contemplation of the glory of Christ as the correct way to live. By faith, the glory of Christ is present to us in the world, in Scripture, and in the church.
