Very first book I read by James Patterson...I promised myself that I would read the entire series, but have never done so. I do need to, though, he is a great author.

The story was great...the ending very surprising. I liked the book a lot.

Great mystery...interesting characters. ( )

The first installment of James Paterson's Women's Murder Club hits the mark and keeps the reader longing for more. Newlyweds are being murdered and it is up to Lindsey Boxer and her friends to find out who is committing these heinous acts. This book along with the others in the series, is a quick page turnining thriller. ( )

This is the first book by this author I have read and it won't be the last.

Back Cover Blurb:
As the only woman homicide inspector in San Francisco, Lindsay Boxer has to be tough. But nothing has prepared her for the honeymoon murders.
A brutal maniac begins a killing spree - slaughtering newlywed couples - and Lindsay takes on the case. She is sickened by the deaths, but her determination to bring the murderer to justice is threatened by a personal tragedy. So she turns to Claire, a coronor, Cindy, a journalist, and Jill, an attorney, for help with both crises: and the Women's Murder Club is born. ( )

I usually read mysteries with woman protagonists written by women so I hadn't read any James Patterson but ever since I watched the short lived TV show Women's Murder Club I wanted to read the first in this series.
This is a fast paced story with many twists and turns that hold your interest. In the midst of the investigation of some newlywed's murders the Women's Murder Club is born with Lindsay Boxer, a homicide detective and her friend, Claire, the Medical Examiner, Cindy, the energetic newspaper reporter, who she befriends in the midst of this investigation and Jill, the assistant district attorney. Their friendships develop and they meet several times throughout the book to discuss details of the crime and strategies to solve it. Due to seeing the show I was picturing Angie Harmon as Lindsay though they did change her hair color and Jill's also but I do think the show captures the essence of the characters.
Patterson's prose is uneven but this book is definitely a page turner with short chapters and there is some character development in Lindsay and I found her to be very likable. I want to read the next in the series but as Patterson has coauthors for the remaining of the series I will have to see if they have the same consistency as this one. ( )

Sharp, independant Lindsay is on the police force excelling but she has ran into a brick wall professionally and personally. Her determination and intelligence combined with her best friends same traits (who happens to be the Examiner) leads these to women down a suspensefull hunt for a serial killer. You would think all serial killers are odd...this one is VERY odd. James Patterson manages to get you interested in the first small chapter and it's a book I could not put down...even when scared! Has a bit of shock value so hang on tight. My heart may need to rest before book two of this group. ( )

Incredible!! How is it that I've been missing this series? I won a contest and received the first three books in this series all in audio format. I've already started the second book 2nd Chance and have a feeling it's going to go faster than the 1st book did.

The four women that make up the murder club are each well developed. I instantly liked Lindsey, the homicide detective, not only because of her active involvement, but also because Patterson made her real. Lindsey is diagnosed with a blood disorder that she is forced to deal with along with the bride/groom killings. The conflicts that Lindsey endures throughout the story make her very real. She has a life! Friends, a job, a disease, a partner and then a lover. I'm hoping that the further I get into this series that the other three women begin to develop this thoroughly

I was guessing all the way through this book. Every time I thought I had something figured out, I'd be twisted around and looking in a different direction. The ending was definitely a surprise that I hadn't put together at all! This plot was something unexpected. The ending to this book made me want to start the 2nd one right away. I'm attached to the characters already and can't wait to find out how Lindsey recoups from 1st to Die.

A side note here is that I hope the rest of the books are as good as this one. I liked this story so much, that I've got high expectations for the upcoming 7 books! Another note, I loved the reader! Suzanne Toren had great infliction and tone! She really made this an enjoyable listen. ( )

outstanding. Held my intense interest until the end. 3 brides and grooms are murdered. Did the writer Jinx do them? Officer Lindsay, claire, jill, and cindy work together as tough smart women to solve the crime. ( )

Fantastic! An intense thriller with a plot that will make your head spin.

As a bonus, Patterson seems to be one of those rare male authors who can write a first-person female protaganist who isn't intensely annoying. I loved the characters, especially the women of the "club." The extra characters manage to sprinkle just the right amount of humor and romance to break up the creepy (and graphic, be forewarned) storyline.

*Spoiler alert* I knocked this down from 5 stars because the ending was sad. Patterson is definitely not one of those "safe" authors you can count on not to kill a character you've gotten attached too. I personally hate sad endings, but the book is still a great read. ( )

The first I heard of the Women's Murder Club series was through the short-loved TV series, which i really liked. Then I read the 6th book in the series, which was good. So I decided to go back and read the series in order. Patterson hasn't been my favorite author. I got tired of the Alex Cross series. So far, I liked the TV show better than the books, but they are good enough I will read the whole series.

The villian of this piece is a nasty guy, killing couples who have just married. Detective Lindsey Boxer is determined to catch him. She winds up turning for advice to her old friend Claire, the medical examiner, and her new friend, Cindy, a reporter. By the end they also bring in Jill from the D.A.'s office.

Worth reading. ( )

This is supposed to be a mystery/thriller, it's not supposed to make me cry. But it did, it was good. Immediately tore into the second one. I love Lindsay, and Chris. Meep. ( )

After the first episode of "Women's Murder Club," I figured that I could give the book series a try. I had never read any of Patterson's books before this, despite his popularity at my library. I got hooked! I really enjoyed having so many strong female characters in one book for a change. I was a little thrown off by Patterson's 2-page chapters, but I think it adds to the fast pace of the novel. You feel like you're breezing through to the end. Patterson's twist at the end sealed the deal, making me rush out to get the 2nd in the series. ( )

I enjoyed this and didn't see the ending coming. Which was a very nice surprise! It is an enjoyable read. The only thing I didn't like about it is that having lived in San Francisco the author's obvious unfamiliarity (he must have used google!) with the locations was off-putting. But if you aren't a local, you'll never notice. =) ( )

Thought I would read this one to see what all the fuss is about (this series has a large circulation in our library) it was OK. ( )

A Wonderful spine tingling mystery, you'll laugh, you'll cry and you will even fall in love. The charactar are wonderful and you can experience what they are feeling throughout the book, it is definately a favorite.

Detective Lindsay Boxer is working on the case of her life, Newlyweds being stalked and killed in the San Fransico area, but this also might be the last case of her life. This thrilling page turn will keep you reading and in suspense until the very end, you think you know who the killer is... guess again! ( )

In San Francisco, newlyweds are being stalked and slaughtered. Lindsay
Boxer is a homicide inspector in the police department who is among the
first on the scene after the first couple's bodies are discovered. She
enlists the aid of her best friend, Claire Washburn, the city's top medical
examiner, in going over some disturbing clues. Before long, they decide to
team up with Cindy Thomas, a crackerjack reporter for /The Chronicle/ and
Jill Bernhardt, a prosecutor from the District Attorney's office to all put
their heads together and pour over the facts and clues and solve the case.

This is the first book in the series so Patterson had to bring his
characters together and make them friends. While the relationship between
Lindsay and Claire is completely believable, the fact that they both
instantly bonded with and embraced Cindy and Jill as best friends, also,
just didn't quite cut it. This is a man trying to write about what is going
on inside women's minds and he simply cannot do it. The storyline was
interesting enough and the mystery itself was pretty good and well played
out. But this is another of those books that have two and three page
chapters, that has the story move forward in small lurches (kind of like
"Law and Order" on TV -- yet another "crime" show that I simply cannot
watch), and that got in my nerves pretty quick. That method of writing
worked very well in The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, but
really fell short in this book.

I'm going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, though, and read at
least one or two more in this series. Now that he's got the characters
together in their little "girls' night out murder club" we'll see if the
plots of the subsequent books in this series rise above the choppy writing.
In the meantime, this one gets a 2.5 from me. ( )
