You cannot help but love Mercedes (The sexy illustration on the cover has captured perfectly how the author has painted her to appear in my mind's eye). What I love the most about this series is the VAMPIRES! They are quite possibly the creepiest bad-assed vampires I have ever read. Will definately read more of Briggs. A great series! I have been reading this series for quite a while. I started out with reading Blood Bound, book two of the series, and I have been HOOKED ever since. I truley enjoyed all three of these books. She kept each story interesting in its own way. It was a fun read with a lot of different characters and many action scenes and some romance. I cannot wait for the next one to come out. This Science Fiction Book Club omnibus includes the first three Mercedes Thompson books, "Moon Called," "Blood Bound" and "Iron Kissed." And, I'm very happy to have these in hardcover. Moon Called: Patricia Briggs has always written enjoyable books, but this was phenomenal. I read it straight through in one night. The main character, Mercy, is spunky and humble, and up to her eyeballs in problems out of her control. She's a Skinwalker - able to shapechange but not a were. She's also a Voltswagon mechanic. Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton's early Anita Blake novels (who don't like the latest books) should flock to Mercy Thompson. With this book, Briggs has definitely entered the big leagues of writing. Highly recommended!! Blood Bound: The first book, Moon Called, introduced our heroine and her history, but in this sequel we get more action. Briggs expands on her mythology by delving into her vampire creations this time around. Stefan calls in a debt and asks Mercy's help to defeat a demon-ridden vampire. At the same time, Mercy learns why Samuel came to live with her, and she will have to face her desire for Adam and how it is changing her. This series is expected to have at least 4 books, and I can hardly wait for the next one. Some reviewers were disappointed that Mercy didn't choose her man. I, for one, am glad she didn't. No need to rush; Briggs has more stories to tell and Mercy is still on her journey. Iron Kissed: This series just keeps getting better and better! I have been a fan of Patricia Briggs since "Steal the Dragon," and I have to admit her writing has improved drmatically since that time. I finished "Iron Kissed" in one day, it was so good. There is almost a glutton of "kick-ass" heroines on the market these days, but Briggs gives readers something a little different. Mercy doesn't kick-ass. She's not even close to being as tough as any of of the bad guys, or the good ones for that matter. She's scared and often feels alone. What she does have is resourcefulness, loyalty, a sense of justice and the will to make her talents do extraordinary things. She's feisty, and can't get enough of baiting the big bad werewolf next door that she happens to be in love with. She's also one heck of a mechanic. In this installment, Mercy's mentor and friend Zee is wrongfully accused of murder. Mercy appears to be the only one willing to fight to clear his name. But, in the process she will learn more than she ever wanted to know about the Fae - and more than they are willing to have her know. Brigg's expands greatly on her otherworld mythology in this novel. Giving us more about Zee and the status of the Fae vis a vis humanity. These aren't your pretty winged fairies, these fae will eat you! Mercy has bitten off more than she can chew here, and she's going to need Adam and Sam to help her through a harrowing incident. Readers will be stunned at the end, and panting for the next book. Highly recommended! no reviews | add a review

I'd most definitely recommend this book to those who are fans of werewolf/vampire things... It's a little more "adult" than the Twilight saga, and really has nothing in common with it. And no, the vampires don't sparkle. ;) 5/5 times I wonder how it's physically possible for a person to shift into a coyote. o_O (
