This is a really cute idea--Danish nursery rhymes loosely translated into English in order to preserve the nursery rhyme spirit rather than the exact meaning. As a guy with an Austrian mother I like that the guy did it to share them with his kids. On superficial assessment, Danish nursery rhymes seem more orientated toward fishwives and kings than fairies and cows over moon, which is to say less fanciful and more just quirky like. ( )

This book is appropriate for the second and third grades. There are some made up words in the rhymes that probably would be harder for younger grades to pronounce. Still, children under the second grade may enjoy having this book read to them because of the funny sounding words. There are a total of 15 different danish nursery rhymes in this book. All of the rhymes are funny and silly.
Uses in the classroom:
- I would give children pictures and have them write rhymes that correspond with it. (Phonemic awareness)
- I would have children come up with rhymes as a class.
- I would put children in groups and have them make a rhyme with a made up word and draw a picture that goes a long with it.
-With the harder words in the text I would practice decoding words with children. ( )

4) Grades K-1

5) It's Raining is a series of Nursery Rhymes for young ages. Many of the rhymes in the book have their own unique characters and stories that do not relate to the others in the book. Each story is very short and uses very few words. Stories of kings, mice, sailing, and ducks can all be found in this nursery rhyme book.

6) One way this story can be used in a classroom is by having students create their own nursery rhymes after reading the book. Each student could pick their own theme and create a short rhyme.
