I've been very frrustrated that my local Borders carries River Town by Peter Hessler, but not its "sequel" Oracle Bones: a journey between China's past and present. Their discount coupons are good on store stock only! ... together after being (rather abruptly) let go in a job he thought was secure.
I'm juggling that with another great book: River Town by Peter Hessler - more of a memoir (of his time teaching in a provincial Chinese city) than a work falling into the travel lit/narrative/essay category.
