According to the author, in modern times there is no longer a sense of honor. While cynicism and skepticism are growing in people's minds every day, it seemed to the author necessary to evoke the high figures of a few men whom the author had the chance to know and to meet. His wartime life in Africa, Europe, or the Far East, full of thunder and epic battles that are still talked about today, is an illustration of a certain idea of {u200B}{u200B}honor.
