The theme of these poems show through as you read them. There are rhymes in some as well as some different syles of poems in the book. The illustrations are some black and white, and some are in color. There are illustrations on every page. The plot of the poems are told as each section begins. I liked these poems more of the kind that was around when I was a child. I know the older we get the harder it is to find things from our childhoods. The dark and the things in it are always a issue with young children.
In the classroom you could have the students right about something they do not like about the dark. Have a class descussion about songs or poems they remember being told as young children. Write your favorite nursery rhyme and tell why you like it. ( )
