I could barely put this down with the twists/turns all the way to the end of the book. Loved it! ( ) A love story like no other An unpredictable, messy, heart wrenching heck of a love story. I read this based on the strength of the other reviews. It’s hard to put into words how special this book is. Beautiful flawed people. Tender moments. No massive separations where you wonder: how many pages until our lovers reunite. I started this review by rating it 4 stars. As I reflected back on the story, 4 stars felt inadequate. I know I will be pondering this book for months to come. 5 stars is the only rating which can come close to doing Nine Minutes justice. Side note: For some reason, by the end of the story I ended up with the song ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift running through my head on repeat. Disregarding the lyrics, the music just felt like it fit. Nine Minutes was an unexpected book for me. Nothing like my typical reading. Surprising, intriguing and consuming. I normally lean towards contemporary romance/erotic reading. Not bothered by much. This book does deal with violence, so if you are all hearts and flowers = Not for You. There is described, not in detail but enough to make you cringe, violence implied such as rape and murder. However, this isn't the driver in the story, it's more of the way for the author to get you in the head of the characters and their motivation. She delivers plot turns and twists but not unbelievable. At the end, I didn't want to believe the outcome. Very anxious for the next book. This could be read as a single stand alone, but I dare you not to want to know what happens next. #TeamGrizz #GrizzLives ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida. From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity, and a new life in the midst of the gang's base on the edge of the Florida Everglades-a frightening, rough, and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival. And at the center of it all is the gang's leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying, and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows. Precocious and intelligent but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity. Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive-or get out at all? Contains mature themes. No library descriptions found. |
