Lynne Thompson and Carletta Carrington Wilson (marts 29 kl. 14:00)
Lynne Thompson’s poetry has been widely published and anthologized. "Beg No Pardon," recipient of the 2007 Perugia Press Prize, is her first book of poems. Thompson’s poems describe a world of Afro-Caribbean heritage and late 20th century life. She was born and raised in Los Angeles by parents ... (mere)born in the Windward Islands, West Indies. She received her B.A. from Scripps College and her J.D. at Southwestern School of Law. Thompson currently serves as director of employee and labor relations at UCLA. The recent transition from law practice to human resource manager has enabled her to purse her passion for poetry. Thompson’s poems have been published in numerous journals including Poetry International, Rattle, Louisiana Literature, The Indiana Review, and the Red Hen Press anthology, "Mischief, Caprice and Other Poetic Strategies." Thompson will be joined by Seattle poet and artist Carletta Carrington Wilson. Wilson's poems have been published in Obsidian III; Seattle Poets and Photographers: A Millennium Reflection; Raven Chronicles, and "Beyond the Frontier: African American Poetry for the 21st Century," among others. She has recently completed her first poetry manuscript. This event is supported by Poets & Writers Inc. This program is presented in cooperation with The Elliott Bay Book Co. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
