I'm trying to find a book that I read about 10 years ago. I can't remember the title or author, but I believe it was a collection of essays or short stories. One of the stories/essays was about a dog drowning written in the first person (from the perspective of the dog). Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Not short stories, but The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams has some scenes like that.

The story is "AFTER I WAS THROWN IN THE RIVER AND BEFORE I DROWNED" by Dave Eggers.
Only Eggers collection I found it in is How We Are Hungry.
It's also in the multi-author collection Speaking with the Angel edited by Nick Hornby.

Sorry about the all caps bit, but lately when I try and edit a post, the Touchstones stop working. Speaking of which, forgot the authors.
