Om mit bibliotekMy tags thus far are self-explanatory. The only thing I care to add here is that, to me, "read" = "cover to cover". Many of the "unread" books have been started at one point or another, especially the theory. Chapters are assigned for this class or that, then the remainder of the book is generally forgotten; not so for me. They will be completed, at some point.

Furthermore, several books tagged as "Currently Reading" are, in fact, read, however are currently being used in classes which I am either taking or TAing.

If I am doing my tagging properly, Unread + Read + Currently Reading + Reference = the total number of books in my library.

Thanks for joining the LibraryThing Coffeehouse group.

Happy cataloging to you.
More than anything I think she is feeling physically dwarfed by our superior book collections. At this uneasy time I think it best we both handle her with sensitivity...
I'm sorry, but it has to be said. "Unread + Read + Currently Reading + Reference = the total number of books in my library." Sexiest thing I've read all day.
My weighteds are different each time I check them--no one's ever in a constant top ten kind of place. And you can have your dear Tony, you know...Antonio? Antoine? What was his name again...hmm...
Do feel free to steal the original tag. It feels SO good to finally have some order to my miscellaneous crap -- piled up (as it usually is), it's taller than I am. I'm sure you have the same experience! Now I'm finally motivated to get binders and labels and make sensible, physical volumes out of the mess.

Not sure if you've read about it anywhere but LT is working on a collections feature which will allow one to separate things like this out of our main catalog (I also want to catalog 'every book I've ever read!!!' oh dear -- but I'll wait for this feature to take the plunge). So I'm hoping in the near future my numbers will be honest again -- really what I want is not to be my own most-represented author. :/

I've also been thinking about a currently reading and to be read tag... god knows it would be useful as I'm always reading five at a time and have a literal stack waiting to go next to my bed. Hmm... too many delicious possibilities on this thing...

(Apologies for the novella-length comments ;)
Oh I thought I would bring this conversation over here, a) as it is perhaps more relevant; b) more honestly, I'm half-expecting a nasty Facebook PM from someone and every time I see I have a new one my heart races a little. But things are so nice & flowery on LT...

Didn't mean to make you defend your library (though on further exploration there are still more embarrassing volumes! kidding ;) -- and certainly understand keeping certain ones for sentimental value if nothing else. I'm scandalized when I receive secondhand books with lovely dedications to the original owner from a gift-giver. And, you may know, it is my philosophy to hoard books. So, understood.

The Sexual Politics of Meat was a terrific present from Lani last Christmas -- it still makes me giggle with glee every time I think of it. A full third is references, so let us not forget that it is indeed a very serious book... I'm taking recommendations from your collection, by the way. Since given up the academic course I seem to have forgotten how fun theory can be, unapplied. Must reclaim it for my own purposes. Donna Haraway, how I've missed you!
I know it can be obsessive, but sleep, do.
Give in to the bracing, visceral desire to spend a full day tracking ISBNs and entering and tagging. Do it. Go on, you know you want to.
