Yeah, I think that's where the audio book screwed things up. I don't remember the sexy chicks thing at all. I can't even remember that many females even being in Storm Front. And while one of the mafia characters is a recurring character in the rest of the books, the whole mafia mystery is brief.

I'm glad you're going to keep going with the series though, but I'd recommend reading them instead of listening to the audio books. I think you'd get a better feel for the world that way.

Ha, talking to you about this is really making me want to re-read Storm Front. It's been a while since I've read it and I just recently re-bought it in hardcover. Hmm...

I just read your review for the Storm Front audio book and I was wondering if you've read the actual books. I checked your library and I don't see them so I'm assuming the audio book was your first foray into the series? It kind of makes me sad that you didn't like it because we seem to like a lot of the same books. :(

I haven't listened to the audio books yet so I don't really know how they compare, but I have to tell you that Butcher's books are absolutely some of my favorites. I remember that Storm Front isn't really the strongest in the series (it's been a while since I've read it to tell you the truth though) but the series does get better as you go.

I know some things just don't work for everyone, but I've recommended the Dresden books to a lot of people (I work at B&N) and I haven't had anyone come back to me and say that hated it. Normally they come back after reading Storm Front and buy the rest of the series! So I'm wondering if the audio book was just really poorly done.

Sorry, I don't mean to badger you about this, I just love this series so much!

I am battling my way through the fiction! (I am on Vande Velde!) And since most of my nonfic is 800 miles away and unlisted, the manga must be next. :3 I'm curious too!

Not that my librarything is very useful right now, my list is in shambles--most of my fiction from Raskin to Zipes is not on it yet, 2/3 of my manga is missing, and about 90% of my nonfiction I don't have catalogued anywhere. My shame is great! But hopefully I've put some of the interesting books in. :D

Man, your booklog is awesome :) I'm in about the same place as your reviews Boys Over Flowers (I have Vol. 10 but am waiting for 9 to arrive from Amazon) and have come to many of the same conclusions. I saw the anime before I read the series, so I know some of what to expect; did you have previous exposure?

You have the book blog I've always wanted for myself but never read enough to maintain, thanks for sending me the link. You're right, we do have a lot in common, and I think we're equally lazy about reading manga series... I had up over 200 unread volumes until recently, but you do probably have me beat ^_^

On my booklog (see above), I grade using letters. Here is the chart of equivalents:

5 = A+
4.5 = A
4 = A-
3.5 = B+
3 = B
2.5 = B-, C+
2 = C
1.5 = C-
1 = D
0.5 = F
