Om migI grew up surrounded by readers so it was inevitable that I would learn to read at a young age - my primary school teacher was not impressed and told my mother that she had 'impinged on my creativity'!

I read across the genres, some might say indiscriminately but have a particular love for the novels of the nineteenth century, especially Wilkie Collins, Trollope and Thackerary and nothing can beat a good twentieth century murder mystery.

I am a bookcrosser, so if you see a BX tag this means that the book is registered on bookcrossing and may be waiting for release, although I haven't quite synched the two libararies up just yet.

Oh yes and I've signed up for an English MA, madness I know.

Now that Collections have arrived, yipeee, its means that I can finally track which books I've read and which books I haven't so here is a quick clarification of how some of my Collections are comprised.

"Your Library" means all books owned by me and physically in my home or on loan to friends and family

"On Loan" refers to books owned by me, in my library, and loaned out to friends and family.

"Borrowed" refers to books I've borrowed which are still with me.

"Bookcrossing" relates to books registered on Bookcrossing.com, some of which may have been released.

All other collections should do what they say on the tin!

Sorry! Forgot to thank you for your detective work. I emailed catarina1 to thank her for her choices (Sarah's Key & Olive Kitteridge). Is it sad that I almost can't wait for the holidays to die down so I can start the hibernation/reading phase of winter?
Hi Karen,

Yeah! I am glad that you got everything. Sophie's World is one of my all-time favourite books and the Soltaire Mystery is right up there on the list as well so I really hope that you like it. And Sweetness is one that I read this year and really enjoyed. I see that you liked Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night so I think that you will like this one. You will have to let me know :)

Oddly enough, last time I was in England (1 1/2 years ago), hubby and I went all the way out to Wimbledon just so we could take the tram back to Croydon (apparently we don't get out much). You live in a wonderful place. If I could afford it, I would probably be living there myself!

Danielle
Hi Karen,

Yup, two more on there way. I didn't specify where to order from (although I checked Amazon for availability and prices) so it will be interesting to see where they come from! The other two are adult books and ones that I absolutely loved reading so hopefully you enjoy them as much. They weren't in your library so I hope that they are new to you.

My books arrived last week and were two that I have been eyeing but haven't read yet so I am excited. I tried to thank my Santa but couldn't find them on line - no idea what's up with that!

Snow? We have had that for over a week now and it doesn't look like it's moving on any time soon. Being in Canada I suppose I should be used to it by now :) I can't imagine snow being usual for you guys at this time of year. I have been to England to visit quite a bit over the years and only ever seen snow in February (I have relatives in Croydon). Hopefully yours is shortlived.

Danielle
Hi Karen,

There were 3 books ordered - did you receive the other two? I hope so! And you are welcome. I had a lot of fun shopping you you :)

Danielle
Thank you so much, Karen! I so appreciate your generosity. I hope that I'm able to help others out next Christmas!

Shilo
thank you a million times. you guys are spectacularly kind! you've just made my week!!!

Leah
Bless you, my dear. 'Tis the season! Mary Lou
Thank for you for the offer, but... Actually if you don't have to do an exam I will be so jealous perhaps I'm better off not knowing!

Hope you enjoy the course.
Good luck with the English MA. I've just finished it, but that was the previous OU English MA. I'm curious about the new OU MA - it looks very different from the previous version.
