Om mig Reader, librarian (retired), publisher (retired), stitcher, hooker, aunt.
Om mit bibliotek My library has grown and shrunk over the years as I moved about Canada - what do I move and what do I ditch. It has also been depended on the size of my apartment. I read many books and pass them on to others from a 91 year old former academic and nurse to my 13 year old great nephew. We share an interest in Sidney Crosby - another Atlantic Canadian. I am also on the receiving end of books bought by others which helps widen my reading range. I also read biographies from aross the spectrum.
I have a broad interest in mysteries and particular enjoy ecclesiastical mysteries. These over the years have spread from mainly Catholic (Father Brown, Father Kesler) and Jewish (Rabbi Small) to many Prostestant demonations as well as present day and historical. This is a genre that has developed over the years. I also like books about books - that's the librarian/publisher in me I guess.
I buy most of my books on-line although I get many 'old friends' at a local second hand store. I enjoy getting re-aquainted with them. One of my favourite things to do is to read a complete series in order; e.g.; Nameless by Bill Pronzini, the CatherineLeVendeur mysteries by Sharan Newman. To see the growth of both the author and the characters over the years is very interesting.
In 1974 I visited my parents in Botswana and in 1975 did a 5 month safari from Victoria Falls to London. Since then I have been interested in reading about Africa and this expanded into an interest in literary travel, both current and historical.
My entries in LT include books I now own or have owned in the past as well as books I borrowed from others or from libraries to read. I have been sporatic in keeping lists of books I have read. The dates given for when I read a book do not always reflect the first reading. I am using LT as both my library catalog and my history of books read. I am finding it an interesting journey throuh my past. I have listed books waiting to be read and those on order or wished for at http://www.librarything.com/catalog/Wish...
I have purchased a couple of used books twice so I decided I have to keep track of them better. Once start to read a title it is moved to this catalogue.

I chose your library for my 'interesting library' list because we seem to like some of the same mystery books/authors. As I'm just beginning to catalog my books, we may have additional topics in common. Many of my more recent 'reads' have been library books, so I've read but don't own most of Anne Perry's three series, also series by Marcia Muller, Deborah Crombie (who, BTW, happens to live in McKinney TX, my present location), J.A.Jance ('Joanna Brady' mysteries), among others.

I am also deeply fascinated with how we as individuals can make a difference in this world, and have only recently discovered just how much I enjoy reading autobiographies, letters and memoirs because of this. Just another reason to add Extraordinary Canadians to my list. Yes... do post it in the biography group!
My memories of Africa live vividly in me. We traveled by boat from England to Africa, arriving in Cape Town, then traveling by train to Johannesburg, then Zimbabwe. It was a year of great turmoil and change, which I will never forget. I read Lamb's book years later, which deepened my understanding of what I experienced.
