Because of this group and one of my brilliant ideas, I decided to start doing book reviews for the local newspaper. Now I am doing book reviews for several places and it is growing.

I try to read 2 to 3 books per week. Do not have time to read books that are not good, and once when I read about someone who was doing reviews saying that they had 50 books on the shelf waiting to be read, I laughed to myself and could not fathom that. Well, I do not have 50, but I do have about 25 or so. Letting them out to friends is a good idea, so I do that with a few select people. All that I asked them to do is let me know if it is a good read and if it is, I will read it when I get it back, which is usually in 2 or 3 days of giving it.

If the book is a bad read, I do not review it, no matter where it came from. I really try, but there are some that are so bad, I wonder what someone was thinking when it was published.

I can understand the locals who self publish and pay through vanity press companies coming up with awful books, but when a company does it? Well, that leaves me mystified.

Enough rambling, I have to get back to work! I have chosen "Capote in Kansas" as my next book and will read it today and tomorrow. I think that it is about ghosts!

I applaud you for the review on 2012! You were far braver than I in getting beyond the 1st half of the book. I gave up. It was terrible writing and should be put on the shelf with some others or given to the Salvation Army for help. Definitely a non-starter, too bad, it had some good advance hype, but did not live up to it. Your review was good! I voted for it!

Thank you for the SantaThing books! :D They look excellent. I've been thinking about picking these books up for a long time, actually, and have never gotten around to it. I'm looking forward to starting the first one... probably in the next couple of days.

I just saw your Veganomicon review. I've been dying to receive my preordered copy, but it will probably be another 2-3 weeks. It's nice to know it's even more wonderful than I'd anticipated (if that's possible).

The ending was pretty unrealistic, but I probably would not have been satisfied with it ending any other way, so it was ok. Oh my goodness! I'm so excited for the TV series. That's really dumb about Erik though! Seriously, what the heck?! Haha, but it will still be really cool!

Hello again, it's really nice to see someone else who shares the mantra books! I read these while I was in Baghdad for four months. It was a welcome balance to the energy state over there.
