Om migI love to read and always have a book on me. Unfortunately I am a slow reader and only get through about 15-20 books per year, so I fear I may never finish all of the wonderful books I have acquired! I am a former university administrator and current free-lance editor of academic papers, articles and dissertations. My husband teaches history and political science in the state university system and is a tireless source of great books! We have a 6-year-old son who loves to read as much as we do, and we live on the Jersey shore with our two dogs. Other interests include tennis, baking/cooking, travel, walking, yoga and cycling.

Om mit bibliotekI own all of the books listed. I love history and historical biography - and by chance (or not) most of my subjects tend to be women. I tend to read in "genre phases." I have a large collection of Asian literature (from classic to contemporary) and Asian history and non-fiction, as well as collections of English history, French history, Imperial Russian history, European Medieval history; Ancient Egyptian history; Ancient Roman history, Indian literature, Japanese literature, and English literature from the 30s,40s & 50s (mostly by female authors including but not limited to Nancy Mitford, Barbara Pym, Dodie Smith, Stella Gibbons & E.M. Delafield). I also read contemporary fiction - favorite authors include Isabel Allende, Barbara Kingsolver, and John Irving (author of my all-time favorite fiction book - A Son of the Circus).

Hi, there. I wanted to let you know that it's nice to find someone else here who is also a slow reader. I only read about 25 books last year, which doesn't compare to how many some LibraryThingers read! In fact, so far this year I've only read 2 books. By the way, love the photograph; what a sweetheart! :-)
I just saw that you read and loved the two Lahiri books last yeat. Just wanted to make sure that you know she has a new collection, Unaccustomed Earth, coming out on April 1. It is every bit as good as Interpreter, which is one of my favorites.
