Om mit bibliotekI like Egyptian and Mayan history, Celtic history and books on all modalities of alternative healing. I read fiction, non-fiction, spirituality and books about animals.

Every year I purge as I go, and the purged books go to the local humane society for their book sale fund raiser. I once had to move from Pa to Ma and back again three years later.. since then, I make sure that I do not have more books than I have shelves.

I cheat... I stack books and buy new shelves. I hide small books behind other stacks of books.

I buy a lot of books second hand, and I share books with many friends, but I still buy many books a year.I think I will never actually get all of my books cataloged here~and I have included books that have moved on to new homes.

I hate tagging, and so I am not very good at it. I can understand it usefulness, but I still hate it.

Hi Kath,
I see that you like Mayan history! We have been to several sites in Mexico and I was wondering if you've read any current books on the subject lately. I've only read a couple that are rather dated and I'd really enjoy something more up to date.
Thanks for your help, Lynda
ok thank you

Bryonyx
Kath
I thought of you when I was in Ohio visiting my daughter and family. We went to Sam's club and they had the Ted Kennedy book 35% off. I remembered that you are going to buy this for your children.

I hope you are well. Thanks for letting me know that Richard is alive and out there. It seems odd not to have him posting on our group.

Be well,

Linda
Hi! Good to hear from you. Hope your Thanksgiving was nice.

Had quiet holiday, no travel or company. I'm feeling unaccountably cranky and am in a definite reading funk. :(

Hope you are feeling better these days.
er...write even! Gah, must...go...to...bed!
Very sleepy right now, but I wanted to stop in and give you hugs and hi's. :) I'll right a decent note soon! xx
Kath, good to hear from you! I am doing well and I had a lovely, quiet Thanksgiving. I hope that you had the same, that you are feeling better, and that we start hearing a little more from you. I've missed you!

Terri
Hi
I'm stoppoing by to say I hope you are feeling better. I know you have had a rough few months. I hope the sun begins to shine soon!

Linda
Hey Kath;
I just wanted to pop over and congratulate you for you HOT REVIEW on "Through The Triangle". Very well done my dear and very deserving. I enjoyed reading it.
Again, congrats and I hope things are well with you.
luv n hugs,
belva
Nice picture there McKait!! LOL. Hope all is well with you. Thinking of ya.

With love and laughter,

Berly
Life IS good! Take Care!

Terri
Thank you. Good to touch base and say hi. I get so wrapped up in what my life has become, that I forget there are people out here.
Thanks for accepting my friendship. Hey I read some of your threads and you are funny lady!

The two books, Moira and Second Sight, are two I picked up at the library, totally unrelated to anything, so when I read your blog I was struck by the coincidence. I don't belong to amazon vine. I am smack in the middle of "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and now after reading your reviews, I want to fit the other two in before the end of next week, so I'll be "busy" doing one of my favorite things!

Happy reading!
Hi McKait,

I was just entering my latest acquisitions and saw that you have two of them: The Last Will of Moira Leahy, and Second Sight! I skipped over to your blog and read both reviews. I also am very much an animal advocate. I am owned by three cats and three dogs. I love your library - you've got some great books.
Agggh!!! How very frustrating. I hate it when my mail goes on an adventure.

But seriously, I LOVE my iTouch. It's the center of my life. I mean you can listen to books on tape or music while grocery shopping (unless the kids are along-yikes!). It's got a calculator, calender for events and contact list. AND... games!!! Plus, of course, if you've got access to wifi, you can surf the net. (or should that be serf to the net)

Let me know when it shows up. And what you think.

Pam
Arrh, me pirate buddy.

I have an iTouch also, but am secretly waiting to see what Apple comes up with. I want a notepad that "does it all"! of course : ]
Biopsy is Monday afternoon. Thanks for the energy--I'll take all of it that I can get!

terri
Haven't been around here much lately, but I wanted to pop in and give you *hugs* and see how you're doing? Give me an update and when I'm not so sleepy I'll give you all my news too.

K
Aw, thank you. ;)

I figured any deal on books is a good deal. I hope you have a lovely weekend! Give your kitties a scratch for me.

Luxx
Kath-- Hope you have a great weekend and have you ever considered a new job? Yours sounds treacherous. Here's a gentle hug for you. All my best.
Hi Kath

I'm simply stopping by to say I hope you had some laughter today.

Also, I gave your wonderful review of The Last Will of Moria Leahy a thumbs up.

Take care,

And, here's hoping next week is a better one for you.
Just a quick "Hello" my darling Kath. I hope you and yours are well.
Am feeling much better today and wanted to let you know I will catch up on your thread this weekend. I looked at it and I just do not have it in me to read 61 posts at this time.
love ya,
belva
I found you!!!

Hi! As promised, the books that I mentioned:

Autism and the God Connection: redefining the autistic experience through extraordinary accounts of spiritual giftedness, by William Stillman.

There's a Boy in Here, by Judy Barron and Sean Barron

Also worth noting, Temple Grandin and Sean Barron co-wrote a book, Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships: Decoding Social Mysteries Through the Unique Perspectives of Autism.

Happy reading!
Hi;
Mark and I have been discussing the possibility of another group read in November and want your input. We have narrowed it down to two books at this point. "The People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. So chat it up with friends or us and let us know if you are up for it and what you think. Probably the same plan as with "Pillars of the Earth" which seemed to work out perfectly for almost all of us.
Think it over and give one of us a shout.
hugs and looking forward to hearing from you,
belva
Kath,
I am definitely a city girl, but I put through the friend request on FB and started? my farm even though I have no clue as to what I am doing.

Hope to see you there.
Cheli
oh... just saw the profile pic. nice
Goodie, i'll send a request for friend on FB then i'll send a request for you to be my farm neighbor....:)

work has been ROUGH, i mean ROUGH...we had the H1N1 flu at my facility "oink oink", face masks were the new fashion statement. 4 clients tested positive ( for influenza A + B ), one of them was really sick. i had to write 64 Tamiflu orders for all the clients on the facility ( didn't get home until 11:30pm ). thankfully we caught it in time, out of the original 4 that were obviously sick with the flu only a handful came down with some runny noses and coughing...we caught it in time from spreading...staff that showed any signs of being sick were sent home, no visiting between houses, no workshop for the clients, basically lock down until the worst was over. know we are gearing up for giving the flu shots and then probably the H1N1 shot ho hum....

BTW i'am still reading The Rapture..really liking it, have you read any other books by Jensen?? i read the ninth life of louis drax...pretty good

i'll go ahead and send the FB request...happy farming neighbor :P

kara
saying Hi

you have been quiet on the threads....Iam thinking, work has got you tired but then saw that your playing farmville on FB :) so that's were you've been. I play farmville ,my zoo, and my farm with my sister and cousin...they can be addicting, in a good way ( i think )

starting out on farmville is slow in the beginning. getting gifts from fellow players can increase your orchard and farm animals ( with no out of pocket from you ). those gifts then produce money when you harvest them..hence my money to plow crops

i found you on FB by your email let me know if you want to be farmville neighbors...i'll send the request :)

kara
I appreciate the support, and good wishes.
Our Boys is now officially an NYT Bestseller.
Noticed you liked The Glass Castle, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family (and also a bit dark). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

okey dokey;
you got it.
b
Good morning Kath;
It's nearly 5:00 A.M. here. Hubby had the bedroom all closed up so tight I woke up an hour ago feeling really cranky and like I was strangling; could not breath it was so warm and muggy in there. I could not go back to sleep so I am up.
Whenever is good for you works for me. Just please give me long enough to have a cup of coffee. (de-caf, but it's all in my head anyway. hee hee)
If you give me a jingle, please use my cell # or you can PM your number and I will call you at whatever time works best for you.
Word of warning: when he gets up, I am turning on the bedroom fan, opening the windows and going back to bed. I am, like you beat!~!
Today is my first day back without mother stuff to do and without boys to watch. So my day will actually be 12 hours shorter! Yea!~! I may only do the dishes, laundry and sweep. What a lazy broad. Oh, yeah and read of course. He will be watch home improvement, car, and cooking shows and of course the Little League World Series if it is still on. My busy man. He is worn out too.
I must say that some of the people you work with have no business working with children. I say they must go!~!
But yeah, let's make it work today Kath.
love ya,
belva
Hi Kath;
Just got home late yesterday and wanted to stop over and say "Hey, how's it going?"
Have you been reading any good books while I was gone? I only read one complete book while at Robbi's. "Battle Cry of Freedom" and it was mesmerizing. She and my friends kept me very busy for all of the 2 weeks. I was able to almost finish another on the flight home.
It was soo good to get home until I got home and found the dishes hadn't been done in 2 weeks; my last coffee cup was still in the sink. But apparently they ate out a lot. But the hubby took awesome care of the grandsons while I was away and of my mother also (and was happy to do it so I could go and spend some time with Robbi) so I didn't say anything about anything. I am just so appreciative that I was able to go and be with her for those two weeks. I got up at 5 A.M. today and cleaned the bathroom and did the dishes. The rest I will catch as catch can, but at least now the bathroom doesn't smell like a latrine and when I want to eat I can find a clean dish. So it's all good.
We went to the Pocket Sandwich Theater while I was there and they were showing a vaudevillian type play in which the actors interact with the audience. Popcorn fights are the rage and we had a blast throwing popcorn at the actors and other patrons and having popcorn rain down upon us as well. I can't wait to go back the next time!~! It was so much fun.
And they have Half Price Books stores all over the Dallas/Ft Worth/Plano/Irving/McKinny area. I think we hit everyone of them and I had to go to the P.O. and ship books home so as not to have to pay the heavy toll to check baggage at the airport. I travel so light. One very small back pack and my purse. That's it. Needless to say I do a lot of laundry while there, but traveling light just works for me.
Missed you and our conversations while I was gone. Can't wait to catch up on your thread and all the others. But I wanted to say hello as I know it will take time to play catch up.
How are all the critters? I hooked up with Stasia while I was down there and she mentioned that you were having trouble with another of your kitties. Hope all is well now.
Will see you on your thread.
belva
I haven't touched base with you in a while.

I see you just added a Temple Grandin book to your library. She's an author that's been on my invisible Want to Read Some Day list since I heard a Terry Gross interview with her. Hopefully, you will post a review when you are done. I am interested in what you have to say given your background.

With your Reiki background, you might be interested to hear I just came back from Japan. I was part of my son's high school Japanese class trip. Sensei wanted to show the students her country. We had an amazing trip! Lots of great memories of the Kyoto and Hiroshima areas as well as Lake Ashi in Hokone. It is still being developed, I've got over 640 photos to go through and edit as well as stories to write, but you can link to the website I setup for the trip through the personal web page listed in my profile.
Found you after my trauma of being trapped in a car with nothing else to listen to but James Frey's Million Useless Pieces. I'm searching for the few who gave it only 1/2 a star. I did so too - just to bring the averages down in whatever way I can on this book. Your life sounds lovely, & your amazing speed reading such to be envied. Happy summer, Kath.
Carole
I would love to get together. Cranberry would do for me, I think. We're in Mt. Lebanon, but as long as it was arranged for a time when Jane could take care of Jack, I'd be totally into it.
I moved to PA from MA...carried all of the books (thousands...I worked in a bookshop for years) up three flights of stairs to my first ever apartment in Troy Hill, then a year later down those same three flights to a house in Baden (well... Economy Borough, but we have a Baden address... addresses are WEIRD around here). We are now considering selling the house and moving back into the city. There will be an elevator in wherever we live next, that's for sure!
Hello,

I know the weather is awful. Our daycare was open - I kept expecting the phone to ring this morning with the cancellation call, but it did not.

My coworker from Beaver had issues too, but my biggest issue was getting stuck in the driveway for a few minutes. Stay warm and safe.

Nancy
Hello k!
We are practically neighbors - I live in Adams Twp. Love all the cats here! We have 3 currently - I should post some pictures of them. Sabrina will celebrate her 22nd birthday next month!

Lisa
