Hi, Ferris!

Have a wonderful time in Brasil! I've never been to the state of Espirito Santo, which is pretty far south of the areas in the Northeast, where I spent so much time. I understand, though, that Guarapari is truly beautiful; i think there are no beaches like Brasilian beaches! If you're a food freak the way I am, you will have a glorious time in Brasil; IMHO, Argentinian beef is vastly overrated compared to Brasilian beef, and Brasilian cooking, I think, is the best in South America.

Gads, I'm so jealous! :-)

Hi!

I'm delighted that you liked The War of the End of the World--it is a remarkable book. I simply can not remember if I've already recommended, on the thread, Barren Lives by Graciliano Ramos. Same area but very different style and story, even though it's about sertanjeiros, the people who live in that area of Brasil. Set in the 30s, it's an excellent story.

So she'll grow into those ears. I've seen lots of Corgis but I don't think I've ever seen a Corgi puppy. What are their personalities like? I think we're going to become dog parents within the next year and I'm sort of "shopping around." I've always thought they were great dogs.

Bella is so cute just makes my tummy tingle. I've just joined the doggie group myself. Haven't figured out how to post the pictures but I have one of my little guy on my profile page. He's Toto and in the picture was about 5 months old. He's 16 months old now and the light of my life (I haven't been blessed with children yet) Hopefully I will get his pictures up on the group page soon.
