Om mig I write about science. My sixth book, Microcosm: E. coli and the New Science of Life, will be coming out in May from Pantheon. I also write for the New York Times and a number of magazines. I wish I had more time to read fiction; for years now I've been reading for research mostly.

I'm right now reading Soul Made Flesh; I'm really feeling like living in the England of the 17th century. It's a great read about history of science, and particularly neurology. I definitely will look for other books from you.
Thanks a lot - I'll pick it up. I always wanted to know more about E.coli. I see you've also got someting out about the latest brain reasearch. This also looks interesting.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and kep writing!
Very much enjoyed "At the Water's Edge", good overview the latest discoveries on the evolution of tetrapods. Good complement to another book I recently read "Your Inner Fish".

What are you writing about now?
Parasite Rex completely changed my view of ecosystems. The precision and complexity of parasite host-behaviour modification mechanisms is staggering! It left me wanting more...
Dear Carl,

I very much enjoyed Parasite Rex. I've always been interested in parasites and your book whet my appetite again after many years. I last studied parasites when at school.
I read a nice essay recently by Italo Calvino about Ovid's Metamorphoses.
