I spent some time enjoying an exploration of your library. For the last three to five years I have been reading a lot on the Civil War. I just punched in Civil War and browsed the volumes that responded to that category in your library. I have the four volumes of the Sandburg Lincoln biography and was curious about your opinion of it. It doesn't get high marks for academic accuracy and wondered if you had read it. I am reading the second volume in the series by Gordon C. Rhea on the overland campaign after finishing the first. I am a little bogged down at the moment but there is a lot of detail and good analysis of the moves of Grant and Lee. I get the impression that man for man the southerner was a better fighter or maybe he was just better led. The only book I missed in your library is the Steven Woodworth "Oxford Atlas of the Civil War". I don't have the McPherson atlas volume. I have got a lot of good use out of the Woodworth volume. He has good detailed maps and I need maps to stay oriented as the battles go on.
I also looked at the books we share. Some different history with some volumes on the French revolution and some philosophy. My most interesting find was " The Practical Cogitator". I have had that for years and still pick it up and read some every once in a while, an enjoyable and thoughtful book.
I hope I didn't wear you out. I had a real good time. I guess only a fellow LT member could understand that. Come on over and drop me a line. I would be interested to talk some about the Civil War and whatever else comes to mind.
