Om mig I'm a librarian. I'm a reader, obviously. I'm a 2006 Appalachian Trail thru-hiker and still exercise my bragging rights. Yes, I've read A Walk in the Woods. It's more fiction than fact. There was no Katz. And, as in his other books, Bryson is very disrespectful of people he met in his travels.

A favorite reading experience: I carried a copy of Cold Mountain while hiking through the Smokies. If not obstructed by a blizzard I would have had a good view of Cold Mountain itself. While out there I took time to go whitewater rafting on the Pigeon River which flows off the mountain.

Om mit bibliotek My reading interests are all over the place. Right now I have focuses on, but not limited to, the outdoors, things Maine and New England, and short stories. The library is a work in progress.

Hey boulder_a_t. Yes, I thru-hiked the AT in 2001, NOBO. My trail name is Bad Ass Turtle. My husband, Footslogger, thru-hiked in 2003. Very cool to meet another thru-hiker who loves books!
No, just an overweight dreamer. I have been reading trailjournals.com for about eight or nine years. I have done a few miles on the Ice Age Trail but only as day hikes.
Hi boulder_a_t,

Yes, I have Concise History of Portland and just got A Short History of Portland by Allan Levinsky of the Maine Historical Society. Do you know about that one? I plan to start it shortly to compare. The Phoenix this week did an article on the two and Sunday's paper is expected to have a review. Do you live in Maine or Boulder or...

I'm in Portland. Feel free to e-mail me at renaplays@yahoo.com, much preferred to this website, if you'd like to communicate further.
Hey boulder_a_t, Thanks for adding my library to your list of interesting libraries. I noticed you had "America's National Parks" in your library and realized that I had forgotten to add that one to mine. I have used it over the last several years to help choose where I would like to go on vacation. Have fun with LibraryThing!
