Om mig Howdy there. My name is Justin and I work at the Paseo Verde Library in Henderson, Nevada. Circulation Desk, in particular. I'm the person who checks the books out to you and checks them in as well. I see a lot of books come through my library and have a to-be-read-list in my head that equals out to be miles long.

I'm weird with what I like to read. I like fantasy, but not all. I like science fiction, but not all. I like most historical fiction books, however. It just depends on how I'm feeling as I open that first page.

By the way, if the book hasn't gotten me by page 15, it's out the window and I'm onto my next read.

Got any questions? Feel free to leave me a comment!

Om mit bibliotek I don't own many books. Any of the books listed on my "shelf" are books that I've checked out from the public library that I work out and have read. I don't believe in owning books, as other people can use them after you've read them once. But that's just me. :P

I have a certain tag system set up which I like. The first tag will be the status of the book at the moment, the second is where I heard of the book/decided to read it, and the third is which library it's from.

Hello Justin, I saw a post that you started back in 2006. Someone commented on it and it caught my eye. It was the one about you being a picky fantasy reader. Well, let me first say that I too am a lover of Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not everything catches my fancy but one other series did. The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. There are 7 books in print but only 3 I believe are in print in the US. I loved the books so much I spent the $80.00 to have the others shipped from Australia. They are a great read; right up there with Harry himself. But, they are a completely separate story. Very original and very creative. If you get the chance to read them let me know.

Helló Justin! Do you have any news about an IRC chat? Best regards lɛʁi לערי ריינהארט
Thanks for joining NaJuReMoNoMo. Look forward to hearing about what you've read.
Thanks for joining 20-Something LibraryThingers!
Nice to see you posting!!!
I've started a group thats dedicated just to discussing HP and the Deathly Hallows. its called HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS ONLY. We could all post about the last book there so that is will be contained and we won;t have to worry as much aobut spoilers. Join when you finish the book.
Thanks for joining the group! Feel free to invite your friends, start topics, and generally be as involved as you're interested in being.
Hi there. Just read your comment, and being a Fantasy addict, I'm glad to know Tolkien's in you fantasy list. I'm not as lucky as you to be surrounded by huge bunch of books everyday (yes, I envy librarian). I have to make do with anytime I got to finish a book. So I'm totally with you with your '15 pages policy' :)
Your side view about not owning a book is interesting. I'm more the 'have to have it on my shelf' kind, cos I love to see them everyday. Don't you want to read them over and over again?
I forgot to mention - just saw your post on the Fantasy group: Best of luck with the George R.R. Martin series! Personally, it's my favorite fantasy series, but waiting for the next book does take patience...
Hey there Justin!

Glad to have you im Green Dragon as well! It's a fun bunch of personalities and you fit right in!

I'd like to ask permission to use one of your ideas on another board; I'd like to post your topic about a "Fictional US Cabinet" to my friends over at KongIsKing.net (OFF TOPIC FORUM, of course), but would only steal your idea if you approve and I can give you credit! May I?
Thanks for joining Reading Resolutions!
Thanks for the comment! I love my public library and wish more people would use it. I'm there at my local branch so often they all know me by name.
Hi. I just stumbled onto your library by chance, and I must say I can identify with what you said about a book needing to grab you in the first 15 pages. I'm like that, too, but a little more extreme. Before I purchase a book, I most often read the first page, and it doesn't draw me in, it's a no go for me.

And likewise with the owning books thing. I buy books all the time, but as soon as they are read, I pass them on to friends of mine who like to read, for exactly the same reason you have for not owning books. Why waste a good read by keeping it on the shelf?

Well, I just had to say hello, after reading your profile and recognizing someone a little like myself...
