Om mig I am a solicitor and presently Professor of American Public Law at Birmingham City University, Birmingham, UK where I have worked for the last 17 years. I am a director of a charity that assists death row prisoners across the world - see www.amicus-alj.org

Om mit bibliotek I have been a book collector since childhood. My principal collections are Folio Society books (presently 1050 titles and growing on an almost daily basis), Greek/Latin literature, English judicial biographies, biographies of US Supreme Court justices and American constitutional law. But I have lesser interests too... :-)

The Royal Post has safely delivered Richard III. Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you so much!
appaloosaman, if still available I would love to have your spare FS Droll Stories.
Hi i am kind of new here and looking for some person who knows alot about horses or horse stories. I love horses alot but unfortunatley i never really got to know alot about them. And also i have longed to ride a horse but my parents fear i could fall off of one and break something. So it really stinks.
Oh! With the help of the previous comment, I can understand your odd username now!
Hi;

As an Appaloosa owner, breeder, and lover, I was arrested by your username while skimming the posts of the Folio Society board. I'm guessing this is one of the 'lesser interests' you mention in your profile. I'd love to hear more.
Appaloosaman,

Remember our discussion on Huysmans' A rebours? I thought about you when reading an early novel by Huysmans called Les Soeurs Vatard. Did you read this one? It's very gloomy and Zola-like. About workers' life in Paris in the late 1870s. I enjoyed this kind of description of a guy who wants to kiss a woman:

'Il devint hardi, arrêta Désirée dans un coin où sont reléguées les balayeuses de la ville, et, après l'avoir regardée voracement pendant quelques minutes, il se serra contre elle, lui appliqua d'un coup sec sa bouche contre la joue et, tandis qu'elle s'enfuyait, le menaçant du doit, il se passa la langue sur les lèvres, comme ces chats friands qui boivent dans leurs babines l'odeur savoureuse des bons morceaux dont ils sont friands.'

Best wishes,

François
Just wanted to say thanks for the work you've put into cataloguing Folio Society editions -- it made my life much easier last month when I had to finish cataloguing mine in a hurry because I had to pack them up for a move.
What a collection! You're the only other person here with both Rise and Fall of the California Prison Movement and the History of the Paris Commune, and add to that the folio and judicial biography collections? I am impressed.
At long last someone who also has Hodgkin's History of the Barbarian Invasions.
That's one impressive amount of Folio Society books! I'm on the other side of the pond and gravitate towards the Easton Press books, but I do have a shelf or two or three of Folio Society books, and a similar amount of the Modern Library books which are good for filling in the reading gaps in the other collections. I haven't really started entering the Easton Press books, so I don't know how many I have (I'm also not sure of the best way to add the book covers, since, while they are beautiful, more often than not, they don't include the name of the book on the cover!) I'm adding you to my watch list -- perhaps I can use any Folio Society book cover images you happen to add.

-Shawn
wow, and I thought I had a lot of Folio Society books!
