Om mig My wife and I have been married since 2005. We live in North Jersey, just a few minutes from the GWB. I work in the city in IT for an insurance company. My wife works at a children's mental health center and is pursuing a Masters in Social Work, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I had always been a pretty voracious reader through high school and college up until the "innernets" came into existence. Recently I've weaned myself off of the net, except for a few sites I check regularly, and have returned to my previous reading appetite.

Om mit bibliotek Our library is a combination of the books my wife and I own, minus some still in storage at my wife's mother's house which I have yet to catalog. It's over 90% fiction as I love to get lost in a good novel.

Hi-I totally agree about [Everything Is Illuminated]...you might also like Foer's wife's book: The History of Love by [Nicole Krauss].
The Sea- John Banville
Thanks to "1001 books..." - otherwise I never think I would have read this! (well, even the write-up in 1001 Books didn't exactly make it sound thrilling...)
I can't even put my finger on why I enjoyed it so much :P
I think it's going to be something I'm going to be gifting to people, with the instruction "Just read it!"
I see from your posting that we both live in New Jersey and work in the city- i work in Bay Ridge Brooklyn.

Hi- saw you on world fiction- which is a favorite of mine. enjoy those reads.
I see affinity has been turned back on, and I saw a 99% sitting next to your name. Interesting. Who would have thought a "Progressive & Liberal!" (if that group is an indication) and a Conservative would have so many books in common?

Preston & Child series: Noticed that you included a "Pendergast Series" tag next to some of the books. That is one reason I had to stop reading their books, as I couldn't figure out why certain names sounded similar and people seemed to be reacting to others with some backstory that I didn't know. I will note that there are characters in "Thunderhead" that turn up in the "Pendergast Series" (or at least in one of the books in that series). The obvious solution is to just read their books in order of publication, but I haven't been able to get myself to read "Reliquary" yet.
I can recommend a scholarly assessment (though I have it out from the public library here) that you might like -- M. Keith Booker's 1994 "The Dystopian Impulse in Modern Literature: Fiction as Social Criticism" which goes through 1984, We, and BNW (classic dystopias). I had to go read We because of it. ISBN 031323093X. Cheers, -J
Hello. We seem to have similar tastes in books, so I thought I'd leave a comment. I aspire to have a library as big as yours.
We share about 30% or so of your library.

You've got good taste.

;-)
You look suspiciously like Vladimir Vladimirovich who doesn't appear in your author cloud. Are you working undercover?
I also share a lot of my favorites with you. One glaring omission you might want to check out is the Doc Ford series by Randy Wayne White. Keep reading!
I've only posted 23 books so far, and you shared 14 of those. I think you might have good taste!!!!!
we are the only people with New Mysteries of Paris.
We share a lot of authors! I enjoyed looking at your catalog and when I have more time, I will review it again. Thanks!
