Om migRecently graduated from the University of Michigan's School of Information where I completed both the Library & Information Services and the Archives & Records Management specializations. After a brief, but wonderful stint on a grant project at the Benson Ford Research Center, I'm currently working just about as close as you can get to my dream job. Go me.

My profile pic is a t-shirt design by Jeph Jacques, creator of the delightful web-comic Questionable Content. Thanks Jeph, you're awesome.

Oh, and I'm pretty much addicted to LibraryThing. Yup, pretty much.

Check out what I'm Currently Reading (or have recently finished reading, but haven't written a review for yet).

Happy Reading!

Om mit bibliotekBooks tagged FOR SALE! are available for purchase through my half.com shop. Alternatively, you can contact me and we might be able to work something out.

I'm trying really hard to streamline my collection a bit, and to curb my impulsive book buying habit. Here, then, are a few of the rules I've implemented regarding purchases:

The Rules
1) If the book is available at my local library, I must first check it out and read it before buying a copy for myself.

2) Before the next book in a series is purchased, the previous book must first be read and reviewed.

3) I must read and review a book that I already own before purchasing another book by the same author.

4) Try not to go on unecessary subject binges--to start with, select one or two books at most.

The Exceptions
1) If I can get it signed by the author, or have personally met the author, I can purchase it.

2) I may purchase any works by Jacqueline Carey, Mary Doria Russell, Tristan Taormino, or Sarah Waters as long as I don't turn into a creepy stalker.

3) I may purchase any works relating to Islandia, Amber, or Firefly/Serenity.

About my tags
If you wanna know, just ask me.

About my ratings
My ratings may seem a little generous since I've not rated many books lower than 3 stars. Remember, however, most of these are books that I actually own. Books I don't like (or that I no longer find useful) will eventually be donated or sold.

5 stars - near perfect

4 1/2 stars - exceptionally good

4 stars - very good

3 1/2 stars - good

3 stars - good, with reservations

2 1/2 stars - not so good, with redeeming qualities

2 stars - not so good

Hi! I'm glad you liked them! And that I managed to pick some new ones for you, I wasn't sure about how well known the books were in the USA. I hadn't heard of Kitchen before either, but it seemed really good (I belive I'll have to get that one for myself too). Happy reading! :)
no problem. Enjoy :)
Reach Mahjong does have three-player rules, too, so get it and you're covered.
yes it is and no problem i enjoy reading others comments on things.
If you want to learn Riichi, then you have exactly one book to study (at least in English): Jenn Barr's Reach Mahjong - The only way to play. That's the only book about Riichi or Reach Mahjong in English so far. Fortunately it's a pretty good book.
when you rate a book it's based on what you feel so if feel that none of them were that bad then you were not genours you were being honest which is good so it not realy a matter of being to genours but the matter of what you think they deserve!
Sorry, yes I would love to participate in the Banned Books Project.
