Om mit bibliotek Please feel free to leave me a polite, private message if you find any errors in the entries in my catalog. Between errors in auto-load data sources and my own typos, there are bound to be mistakes, and the more we weed out from our catalogues, the better the LT database is.

My Library? It's all over the map and all over the house. Lot's of history and historical novels, but probably 1/3 fiction of some form. Six shelves of poetry - more than I can ever read, but I can read some from every volume before time runs out. A large number of reference works (history, literature, and language) because my interest in books and reading is also an interest in history and words.

The Library of America is strictly a publisher's series that only covers certain editions of works, not the work in totality. For example, not all copies of Walden are part of the Library of America. Because of this, it does not fit the definition of series as LibraryThing has organized it.
Hi,

Would you be interested in helping with the Walter Scott library? On the strength of your catalogue and profile picture, I suspect you must be something of an expert. Or at least LT's leading Scott collector. I see you've even got a reprint of the Abbotsford catalogue in your library.

If you have time to add a few books, or to fix some of our errors, please leave a note on Sir Walter's profile.
Hello Os,
Sorry to be so slow in my response. I do have the 1968 edition of "An Exaltation of Larks", but none of the bronze colored covers matches mine. I've added a new cover that does. Thanks for your note.
-Trish
I fixed the Boswell entry. Thanks.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the html tags. I'm so grateful, and may actually get there someday! The book hug picture is from a Flork friend. Best, Joyce
Mornin', Os. Changed the cover. But I also have the 1977 edition of "An Exaltation of Larks..." that I think is not expanded or "Ultimate," but I don't find a cover for that. Wish I knew how to set up "currently reading" and "just finished" lists on my profile page! Any advice? ~ Joyce
Hi, I see that you are a member of the Easton Press Collectors group as well as the Folio Society devotees group. I have been a member of the Folio Society for 6 years and enjoy their books very much. In the past when I received catalogs and mailing from Easton press I looked at them and then tossed them into the recycling bin. I have not found the EP cover to be that interesting or eye-catching, especially when compared to the FS books. I also am put off by generally higher cost of the EP books compared to the FS books. I just received the Easton Press Winter 2008 catalog a few days ago and I am interested in a few of the sets they are offering. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on Easton Press books in general and in comparison to Folio Society books. Thank you very much.

Sincerely, LucasTrask
Thank you for your suggestion. It makes sense. I have made the correction.
I love your photo of you library. Looks like a great place.
Hi,

Thanks for the note. I am new to the librarything and I appreciate all the help I can get.

Hello Os, I was able to find 'Waverley Gems' at antipoean.com, a book store in New York. Still not sure if there is an earlier edition or not. Thanks for the help and suggestions. Take care, bob
Thanks for catching the Boswell author/other. I haven't been through my catalogue to clean the entries. I appreciate it. -Walkonmyearth

Os, I have fixed our James Boswell work. Thanks for the note. Alan.
great gods, please tell me you'll let me peruse your library at Right Here.

love the room. have a fab day =)
Os, I've notice that Sir Walter is one of your favorites, I wonder if you can help me. I'm still cataloging and just entered "Waverly Gems: a series of engraved illustrations of incidents and scenery in Scotts Novels". It is listed on amazon but has the published date of 1848, the one I have is dated 1852.
I've tried to search for a copy with the 1848 date with no luck. Do you know if there really is an 1848 copy?
thanks, bob
Once again thanks on the Great Books tip. I think I get it now, and I'll be more careful as I enter. I appreciate your taking the time to point it out. Like the picture of your library....looks like a great place to work. LJB
I added the space that you mentioned regarding Tolstoy, Leo. Did that do the trick?
Many thanks for your note, and for the requested change to War and Peace.
Corrected as per request - thank you.
Hi Os, I think I corrected it. See you later, bob
Os, You could never be a pest. I changed the Tolstoy ,I always believed that Tolstoy should be spelled with a y instead of I. I remember reading many years ago that in reading translations of Tolstoy, avoid the translators that spell his name with a "I".
Anyway, if there is anything you need from me please do not hesitate to let me know,
thanks,bob
Thanks, Os. I'm making the change.
Douglyn
I made the Michael Collins change. Thanks!
Hi,

I've changed Owen Merith to Meredith, Owen Earl Lytton as per your suggestion. It's shown up on my data base.

Can you tell me how to reach someone who can tell me how to get extraneous information out of my tags list? It's gotten quite unwieldy with duplications and I'd like to streamline it.

Thanks.

Janis Watson
Dear Os --

I have changed it to Michael John Collins. Thanks for your note. Best regards,

Barry Wiegand
Have made the change. Cheers for the headsup
That sounds brilliantly logical to me! The idea of an enormous Irish historical figure exploring space was just a bit strange. ;-)
Ok will do. Nice library by the way,I will pop back later for a more detailed look.
Made the requested change. Thanks for the heads-up.
Done. Thanks for the heads-up.
Thanks. I'll fix that. Sorry about the delay.
Thanks for catching 'Rienzi' for me. My cat is not the best proofreader, but she works really cheap. Now I have to figure out who is the last of his tribe.
thanks,
bob
PS. I think 'it was a dark and stormy night' is a good line.
Thanks for the Rienzi tip. I just downloaded it.
Is your pic the Scott monument in Edinburgh?
F
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I wondered if you had read it. This Bulwer-Lytton is really intriguing, the more so because he was so well-known by the mid 19c. If I can find the book one day, I think I'll buy it.
And what a strange contest in the Web site you pointed out!
F
Hello Osbaldistone,
Maybe you could give me your advice: I'm intrigued by one book listed by the LT Recommendations machine, Rienzi by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. I've never heard of it, neither of the author, neither of Cola di Rienzo. (I only knew the Wagner's opera...) There are only 11 copies of it on LT, and I saw you had one. What do you think of it? Was it ever published by Folio? Thanks for the reply.
François
I'm sorry, how r u doing??=)
Thanks for your comments. Probably just another example of obsessive behavior, but I really got interested in hunting down author pictures. I'm trying to take a break from it for awhile, but I'll get back in at some point. I admire users like DromJohn who hunts down authors and gets permissions
Thank you for your kind message. The photos are a lot of fun! This is a great group on LT.
Thanks for the correction. I'll look up my variant spelllings of Hans Christian Andersen while I'm at it. Beth Root
Hi - I left a comment on your flickr profile. Best wishes :-)
Dear O, many, many thanks for putting up with this mystified mope still in the learning stage. I appreciate it!
hi, i love the Currently Reading and Just Finished pics. may i ask how one does that?
thanks in advance; amobogio
hee hee - froggy went a-courtin :-)

Welcome to the NPR Listeners site!
Belatedly, thanks for your addition to the Lord Lytton discussion. Your link has already provided much amusement. Cheers, Nick
I see you've set up your Currently Reading and Just Finished lists. Cool. Now everyone will know when you've spent too much time combining, rather than reading. Keeps us honest though, huh?
Thanks for your recent posts in the Bookcases group, and especially photos :-) I need to (finally!) add some photos there of my own. Also, we have almost the same # of books - ha! - Jeremy
