Om mig I'm an aspiring children's librarian, with a suitably frivolous liberal arts degree (double in English and History) from a suitably frivolous liberal arts college (Kenyon College, in Gambier Ohio). I have a voracious appetite for books, movies, National Public Radio, good food, and an all-consuming love for the following authors (and genres):

- Jane Austen and those who, like Dodie Smith and Helen Fielding, have carried her grace and wit into the 20th century.
- George Eliot, Charlotte Bronte, and much of Victorian Lit, generally.
- Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Josephine Tey and Golden Age mystery novelists in general.
- Jasper Fforde, Connie Willis and anyone else with abundant cleverness and a sense of humor about genres I love.
- Philip Pullman, Lloyd Alexander, Patricia C. Wrede and anyone else who can articulate an alternate world that swallows me whole, and fill it with characters that make me laugh.
- John Green, Joan Bauer, Louis Rennison and anyone else who can write a Y.A. novel that either makes me laugh out loud, breaks my heart, or both.
- Sarah Vowell, David Sedaris, Nick Hornby, and mostly anyone else who's ever contributed to This American Life, McSweeney's, or both.

I also have a sad but occasionally insurmountable need to read truly awful things, and for that I usually turn to Chick Lit or bodice-busting historical fiction. But I always feel filthy afterwards.

Om mit bibliotek My library grows at an overwhelmingly fast pace.

Hahaha!! Yay. I call it "junk food reading" and it's like watching TV only different - sometimes your brain just needs a break! Ah, guilty secrets that we love to share! (I'm not so into the bodice-busting genres, but I think murder mysteries/detective stories and the like often qualify).
