Om mig I'm a bit like an echidna in that I'm Australian, was cute when I was younger, like to eat my carrots raw and definitely have my prickly moments!
Om mit bibliotek My library is organised in LT by tags, to show my books alphabetically by author, and in series order. I have only included books I physically own... and I have trouble finding shelf space for all these series of fantasy, science fiction, crime and others I continually, and obsessively, add to. And it has not been helped by a recent penchant for Man Booker listed books, thanks to my German friend residing in the USA.
I sort my catalogue by tags. (If there are errors in my catalogue please help me to fix them.)

I have just the Booker winners, thats enough of a challenge.
I went to the bookfair today because it was too wet for work.Got 60 odd books and spent $150 so whats that? $2.50 each average so good shopping.Got a couple I was chasing.I have heard good things about an Aussie crime writer Barry Maitland.I have a few of his books unread but was fortunate to find his first book which is a good place to start.I picked up 2 books to put on bookmooch."The Outsider" by Albert Camus and "Everything is Illuminated" by Johnathon Safran Foer. If you are interested in either let me know and I will reserve them for you.
You have an interesting way to tag books in a series by actually numbering them.My method is to put the original publication date in thhe date field and that tells me the series order.I have heard of Steven Carrol but dont have any of his books. He won the Miles Franklin Award last year and I have hinted to the kids that it would be an OK Fathers Day present.Have to wait till Sunday :-)
Anyway I better get back to cataloging these 60 books. Its a chore but a most enjoyable one.
Cheers
Peter

It was great to hear from you - no worries about the timing, I completely understand. Frankly, I don't know where the year has gone to. It seems only yesterday that we were welcoming 2008 and here we are almost into Sept!! I can't imagine where it went. Cold winters are a thing of the imagination here in the tropics. We just finished a 10 day stint of rain with tropical storm Fay sitting on our heads. It was fun for a while, but after the 4th day or so, everyone gets grumpy and long faced. We Floridians are addicted to our sunshine, clearly.
Now the lakes are all full, the frogs are happy, and everything is green green green. Including things that shouldn't be, like the white fence in my yard!
Happy to send you some warmth... This time of year I am starting to feel homesick for the mountains and the change of seasons. In FL, our autumn drags it's appearance - we might see some briskness by November, but elsewhere it comes in September. I miss it. Love that morning crispness, when its comfortable to go for a walk with a big sweater and watch my dog act like a puppy in the cool air. The good thing is, when that temperature does show up here, we get to keep it for about 4 months, then it's back to the heat. But Dec-March or so, wow!
My reading has been sporadic. I've so many books on the list to read that I haven't even bothered putting them into LT! One day I will do it, but right now I'm spending all my spare moments making hay while the sun is shining (so to speak!). I found a small writing group that focuses on fantasy/SF - they are about 40 minutes away from my home, and all a bit younger than me, but they companionship is great. There is nothing like a deadline (of sorts) to put the muse on notice. Feeling a bit harried now and then, but enjoying the creative process more and more!
Happy reading!

sorry that I've been 'off the grid' for a while. Somehow the rush of work didn't slow down which meant that I found myself swamped with 'other' things to do when not at work. I always manange to catalouge any new purchases and keep my own list of started/finished up to date, but I actually threw myself into painting my figures for a while which kept me off the computer when at home.
Ashleigh floundered on 'Prince Caspian' which was sad, but we all loved the movie. I thought it was quite true to the book and even made some scenes in narrative more exiting than the original.
Ash and I didn't play each other at the Wargames tournament - but we both did play a chap called David Phillips who works with me and has a child (younger) at the school Ashliegh attends. When he gave us both a right royal drubbing we plotted revenge on his son and his desk :) then discovered he had left his army at the venue - we thought about a blowtorch party. As it was I came in fourth (an acheivement with the Nubian army I chose to run) and Ash came in 19th.
I didn't mind Bull Dancers but for the fact that the Egyptian Doctor had a modern muslim name (we are not short of lists of honest to goodness ancient Egyptian names) and the fact that the lead character had such modern sensibilities (even down to a modern sense of environmental economics). It was the ending that dragged as well. All in all I thought it was a book that kept me reading (good) but didn't leave me feeling uplifted.
I hope that you enjoy 'The Egyptian' and that it arrives at a reasonable pace. I've bitten the bullet and ordered some books from ABE - postage makes the deal a lot less attractive though. :)
It has been cold but not uncomfortably so here in Canberra. I have noticed that over the last few months Ashleigh has toughened up and isn't feeling it as much as she used to.
I have just started 'The Excalibur Murders' a new series in the Arthurian setting with Merlin as a well travelled scholar (not a magician) who has to solve crimes with his lost knowlege and make it look miraculous.
Cheers

From what I have read of the first book, Erickson is like that a bit, but with a few powerups.

I have read first 150 pages of Gardens of the Moon, keep borrowing it from the library and not getting to it. :) Someone said one of the later ones is 1200, a bit off-putting.
Yeah, Cryptonomicon is a bit on the slow side. Stephen King talks about having bloat disease, I am pretty sure Stephenson has it too, after things like Snow Crash and Interface.
I still have a couple of Robson to get too, still been reading a lot of anthologies - and bunch of magazines this week.
