Om mig Don't mind me. Just pretend I'm not here. I use LT to keep track of what I've read and write a little bit about what I want to remember from the book.

If you know of a book you think I would enjoy, please leave a comment!

I am an omnivorous, eclectic and compulsive reader.

I like writers who are as in love with the English language as I am. I enjoy lingering over beautiful language. I like stories with a beginning-middle and end-preferable a happy ending. I love novels that hold a mirror up to my life so that I can reflect on my situation and laugh in recognition.

It’s hard for me to read books where I cannot empathize with the main character(s).

Almost all genres appeal to me, I am particularly fond of magical realism, foreign travel (of course!) and some science fiction.

LOVE your profile picture! It brought back fond memories of a childhood spent in the arms of a shady tree with, as my folks used to say, my "nose in a book".
I just finished writing a review of Byrne's The Secret. I had not read your review prior to writing mine, but we are total agreement! I just want to publicly, or at least semipublicly, admit you got there first. It is AMAZING the way this type of scam proliferates the way it does.

Hold that positive thought and Have A Better Day!
You asked me my thoughts on "if Jesus was just a man would it make any difference".

Not to me. But perhaps I hold heretical views on Jesus. To me, the important aspect of his life were his teachings; not his birth, not the virginity of his mother, not even his resurrection. Years ago we had an idiot (but sweet) bird dog. We would drop food on the floor, call her over and point to the food. She would stare inquisitively at our finger, oblivious to the food on the floor. I feel like Jesus did his best to point the way to God, and most people are busy staring at his finger.

I believe the teachings of Jesus are divine. I believe Jesus himself was, in his humanity, as close to divine as a human can be while on this earth. What is holy to me is the idea of loving God, and loving your neighbors; the great commandments. Jesus showed us how through his life.

I could go on and on!

Bear in mind these are not the views of my wonderful PCUSA church. They are wholly my own.

Peace,

Kathy
i Love this picture! can you tell me who's the artist?

thanks
Hi Nancy!
I enjoyed your reviews of "Teacher Man", "The Other Boleyn Girl" and "Phantom in the Brain". I'm not sure if I got the titles exactly correct, but those are the ones I scribbled down for my next Amazon or used book store spree! Actually, I'll hit the used book store first, THEN Amazon.

Don't get me started about "The Secret". It turned my stomach.

Let me know what you think about "The Last Templar". Have you read "Born in Blood"?

Peace,

Kathy from OK
Pillars of the Earth, well I liked it.

I'll add it to my wishlist then. Thanks!
re: Reviews - Hahaha! My 'reviews' aren't so much reviews as listings of favorite quotes. LOL. And for heaven's sakes they're for ME just like my travel logs.

But, Gnance, YOU'RE special.

I could do what you're doing; and truth be told keeping a record of what my books were like to me is appealing - The Gift n' all.

I'm worried now that I'd feel the need to do it for EVERY book. [snort]. Of course that would mean rereading a lot of the older ones. [shudder]
I'm conflicted about giving my reviews. I have to do the books justice, IMO, and I'm not sure I can. Maybe the techy ones. That's second nature ;)

Re the emails; I received a few yesterday from other people. They'd all been sent on Monday. Perhaps Yahoo and Orange are in league?
