GrupperConnecticut Nutmeggers, Homeschool Home Libraries
Om mig I am a mother at home who homeschools her two sons aged 8 and 11. My main blog about parenting, homeschooling and books is www.thethinkingmother.blogspot.com. I like to make art for fun and my blog about that is www.christinemmatcs.blogspot.com. I write customer reviews on Amazon and my user name there is ChristineMM. I swap books for free on PaperBackSwap.com under the name ChristineMM.
Om mit bibliotek Our family owns over 8000 books and don't know how long it will take me to load them into this account; I have been working on loading the data into an Excel spreadsheet first.
Most of our books are for homeschooling our children. Both my husband and I read for information, self-education and for pleasure and of course our children read for the same reasons. I am a big fan of parents reading aloud to children, we don't just read each to ourselves.
I also own some books that the library does not have available, such as new books about the arts and crafts that I do for fun. We also own a lot of out-of-print books since we know they are hard to find in a library when we want them.
Since we do some 'alternative' things I often have to buy books on the topics since local public libraries often do not have them in circulation. These are books ranging from attachment parenting, homeschooling how-to, alternative education, education reform, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, natural birth, and alternative medicine. Also it includes a bunch of new books on making art and creativity (which I have no clue why the libraries are not buying).

Fellow homeschooler here, in Colorado - and I see we share some really good booklist books...the one by Lisanne Bales and Who Should We Then Read by Jan Bloom. I have to confess, that after listing almost 4000 books on LT, I am now in the process of culling them. Also, my youngest is ten years old, so it's easier to part with the books she's read or doesn't care for, etc. I'd like to get down to 3000 or fewer. One author I'd never heard of until reading Lisanne's booklet, is Jill Paton Walsh. Her YA novel of the fall of Constantinople in 1451, The Emperor's Winding Sheet, is outstanding.

I am WAY behind on putting books here in my LT account. I would like to do that when I am done with the Excel document, which should be very soon.
I did a huge book sort in November 2006 and moved books around, reorganized, etc.
I have been trying to avoid library book sales as I feel overwhelmed with this many books.

I think I have about 1000 more than I have listed in Excel. That is a guess.
Right now I am going through the books to get rid of some that we are done with. It is then a challenge to go into Excel to delete out the ones that are gone now and also to do the same with this account. Kind of a pain.
I have been busy with other projects so have not taken the time to work on Library Thing. So many things to do, so little time!
