Mycket svenskt.
God läshöst! häls EvaCarina

I'm delighted to hear that you have got a copy of a George Bellairs title. As yet I haven't come across "An Old Man Dies",but I do hope you enjoy it anyway. They are completely unassuming stories, which I suppose could be described as 'cosies' but I really like them, not least for the fact that a lot of them,as I think I've said before, are set on the Isle of Man .Added to which the poor chap hasn't got many followers on LT,so please spread the word if you can.Of course if you don't like the book/author,you are welcome to castigate me for the recommendation.
I look forward to your report.
Thanks also for the link, which is useful. Most of my copies have been found on ABE,although a few have been found in secondhand and charity shops.
Speak to you soon.
best wishes.

I have to make this quick as my wife's due back from grocery shopping in a few minutes and I've been taking too long responding to HorusE and Devenish here on LT. I will write back more comprehensively in the near future.
First, thank you for the female author suggestions. I had never heard of either of the ladies mentioned and I look forward to investigating their writings.
Second, I wanted to give you, Horus and Devenish this link (from my friend jackanaples here on LT) to some foreign mystery authors in the hope you'll find something of interest: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entert...
I've got to go now, but I'll talk more later after investigating your recommendations.
Take care,

I have just read Bookstothesky's last comment on your page, and am delighted that you are in contact with him.We have had many interesting conversations in the past, and I must say that I have learnt quite a lot from him,not least about fantasy fiction, which I am rather lacking in knowledge I must admit. That of course is one of the great strengths of LT,putting one in touch with those who know more than oneself.
I am also very interested in Scandinavian crime authors,so if you can think of any more (in addition to those you have already mentioned)please do let me know.
That said,I have to agree with you on English authors, perhaps as you would expect me to.I am especially drawn to those of the Golden Age,but in addition to the well known names I tend to collect and read some of the perhaps less favored today. I mean such names as Peter Cheyney,Edgar Wallace and no doubt the most obscure of all George Bellairs . This last chap set a lot of his many books on the Isle of Man,and they all featured his detective Chief Inspector Littlejohn and his assistant Cromwell.
All the best and hope to hear from you soon.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. Your message of interest in my library came along roughly at the same time as a couple of others (one of those unexplained cosmic convergences, I guess:) and, as the others' libraries weren't as comprehensive as yours or quite as interesting to me because of my recent interest in Nordic crime writing, I figured I would just respond to them quickly and then savor your library later; kind of a delayed gratification type of thing. Unfortunately, life/work came along and intruded at various levels, and other messages got posted, pushing yours down, and I forgot about you for a bit; again, I apologize, and I thank you for finding my library to be of interest.
I'm truly envious of your ability to read both English and Swedish, as there are only a smattering of crime novels translated into English so far from your country and your neighbor countries (not counting Mankell, whom I've yet to read, strangely). I read the first novel by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö a few months ago (like it a lot) and I've purchased a couple more since then. I also read the first Hakan Nesser book but, though the ending was interesting and satisfying, I didn't really enjoy the main policeman character (his name escapes me at the moment). I do like Mr. Nesser, though. I spoke with him for a few minutes at a book fair here in Los Angeles a little more than a year ago and found him to be humorous and pleasant. Of late, I've been eyeing Stieg Larsson's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I plan to give it a read soon (if I can ever get through Michael Stanley's A Carrion Death, like I promised Devenish:). Probably my current favorite Scandinavian author would be Norway's Jo Nesbo and I sure wish they'd hurry up with the translations of his books.
It looks like we share a friend in Devenish and that we are all on the same wavelength when it comes to book ownership on LT, along with a few others, of course. It would be nice if Tim, et al., would get the their collective acts together and overhall the site to break out other ownership categories like they promised two years ago (yes, it's been that long), but what can you do?
Anyway, enough of that negative LT stuff. It looks like you and Devenish and I also share a passion for book signings. Are there a lot of author tours and signings at bookstores in Sweden? If so, are you able to attend any of them or do you get your signed books through the internet?
Speak with you soon,

It's great to hear from you again. In answer to your question about how I manage to store my collection, the answer is 'with great difficulty.' Now,let me try to give you a proper answer. Most are kept in an extension to the house. That was built a few years ago,and the idea was to clear the rest of the house and to leave it completely free of books. That idea lasted just a few months before they started to spread once more, until they now inhabit every room again. Some are double-stacked and some are simply stacked. Included in the total (as you will see on my Profile Page) are about 300-400 CD's and Audio tapes and they are much easier to store. I have however not listed DVD's.
I'm pleased that you agree with me as to only cataloguing items actually owned.I really do think that the only fault with LT is the way that they count non-owned items as part of the over-all totals. Fine with me if people want to include whatever they like, but as I say these things (or rather non-things) should not counted. If you want to read more on this subject, you might like to have a look at Bookstothesky's profile page. He gives some further interesting insights (I think) into this subject.
I see that we now share 453 books,my goodness, that has jumped up a lot.
Best wishes

Har du läst Rebu's Scotland: A personal jurney? Vet du om den går att få tag på?
Ha det gott EvaCarina

Nice to hear from you.
My first thoughts about British authors that you may like would be―Val McDermid, Cath Staincliffe,Stephen Booth,P.D .James.and Elisabeth George (who is American, but who writes English Crime Fiction)
Hope this helps. Thanks for your list which is helpful.
Speak to you soon,

I hope that all goes well with you over there.
Have you got any thoughts on crime and mystery books by authors from your part of the world. (hopefully translated into English.I have an idea that there may be several, but cannot think of any myself,
Of course if you want any back from me,do ask and I will put a list together.
How is the weather by the way.We are having quite a nice sunny spell here, albeit with a bit of rain mixed in.
Regards.

I see that you have sent a request through to connect with me as a 'friend',and this of course I am delighted to do.I see that not only do we share 195 books to date, but that most of the authors on your favourite list also feature strongly in my library. In the case of Stephen Booth,Colin Dexter and P.D.James,I am lucky enough to have met them and to own signed copies of several of their books. I see in fact that you prefer signed first editions, and I have collected a fair few of these, mostly on the crime fiction front.
Anyway I am pleased that you contacted me,and I hope to hear from you soon.
All the best from the UK.
