Om mig I love reading, it is a need -- an addiction, almost -- and books are my dear friends. Good books, good food & good company are the stuff of happiness for me. I was born in Indonesia but am now living in So. California. I basically read whatever catches my interest but I do tend to gravitate toward social science, WW II (particularly holocaust literature & Indonesia during the Japanese occupation), esoterica, general history, herbalism & erotica. I also love supernatural, gothic & fantasy stories like Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Arthur Madchen & H. Rider Haggard.

Om mit bibliotek This is only a partial library of the books that are actually at my house. Some are still at my parents' house & in boxes at my mother-in-law's garage. I get a lot of my books from the library, so there are plenty of books I have read & loved but which I don't actually own. I don't know if I should list those as well. I used to have a little notebook where I would write down the books I have read, and it went back to 1991. After moving into my present house I could no longer find it. I'm still mourning, but have started over with a new notebook.

Beastie, I would recommend anything Nin. I like Emma Holly and M. J. Rose. I am thinking of a lot of books that to me are erotic, and not necessarily sexy...I like Veronica by Nicholas Christopher...Everything in my library is sexy to me really!;)
What type of erotica do you like?

You must read Little Birds--have you?
Hi, Beastie, thanks for your note. Yes, I've been living in Jakarta for 12 years now, so I had all the excitement of krismon and the fall of Soeharto. It's been ... interesting. There's not as much Indonesiana in my collection as there should be, but why read about it when you can live it?
Thanks for the support on "Love's Eldritch Ichor"...I actually took the plunge into Lovecraft after reading the Lovecraft plus Holmes/Jeeves pastiche novellas, so a good pastiche, like that one, cracks me up. (I don't remember what that book is called but it's either in my catalogue or will be shortly). Particularly timely, too...I ran into a teenage girl today in the used bookstore wearing a "Miskatonic University Literature Department" sweatshirt and we had a nice little moment, so, woot! Have a good rest of the weekend!
Welcome to LibraryThing!

You should have lots of fun here. I know I do. There are lots of interesting groups to join under "Talk". My favorite at the moment happens to be the one called Asian Fiction and NonFiction. You might like that one, too, since you are originally from Indonesia. We just finished doing a group read of Kitchen, a Japanese novel, by Banana Yoshimoto and are about to start reading My Name is Red, a Turkish novel, by the this year's Nobel prize winner (in literature) Orhan Pamuk. You're certainly welcome to join us!

If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to let me know.

Enjoy!
Thanks for joining the Esoterica group. I used to have a list of books I wanted, rather than ones I had read. I had hundreds of recommendations on there. But I wasn't able to find the notebook after moving to North Dakota. Lost somewhere inbetween I guess. Around then I discovered the joy of Amazon.com wishlists.

Happy cataloging to you.
