Om mig Anne Brooke has been writing for seventeen years and is the author of six novels, numerous short stories and poems. She was shortlisted for the Harry Bowling Novel Award in 2006, longlisted for the Betty Bolingbroke-Kent Novel Award in 2005, and shortlisted for the Royal Literary Fund Awards in 2004 and the Asham Award for Women Writers in 2003. In addition, she has twice been the winner of the DSJT Charitable Trust Open Poetry Award.

Her gay crime novel, Maloney's Law, is published by PD Publishing and available from Amazon.com in the US. Another gay crime novel, A Dangerous Man, is available from Flame Books, whilst her romantic comedy novel, Pink Champagne and Apple Juice, and her crime novel, Thorn in the Flesh, are both available from Goldenford Publishers.

I loved it too! AS MEAT was one of the more inspiring pieces of writing I came across last year- haunting too, and one of those books that stays with you and you think a lot about the complexity of the characters.

Hey there.

Thanks for the invite. I'm so glad I've found someone else who enjoyed The First Verse. I've encountered quite a few people who weren't particularly impressed by it. I suppose it's so NOT the typical gay novel, that it confuses men who are looking for that. And Maria McCann's book...what can I say? When is she going to write something else, for heaven's sake? As Meat Loves Salt is probably one of my top ten books of all time!

Well, enough. I'm intrigued by your books; particularly the romantic comedies. I'll have to give them a peek. Take care.

Anne, is "Thorn in the Flesh" ever going to be available on Amazon.com (US)? I loked for it, but it comes up as an unavailable import, print on demand. I'd love to add it to my listmania but try not to put on books that readers can't buy...

I haven't gotten to "As Meat Loves Salt," but thanks fo rthe recommendation. I did buy it because it sounded good, but I buy 3-4 books a week so there's never enough time for them all! Waiting for my next vacation or holiday!

Yes definitely Case Histories is fantastic too! (hope you mean the Kate Atkinson series with Jackson Brody!)... there is a new book out as well which I need to read.

Anne, we seem to find one another everywhere. I am now convinced that, in another life, we had some kind of torrid adulterous love affair, and were then brutally murdered by our two cuckholded spouses (who later sought comfort in one anothers' arms - that is - until they found themselves facing the electric chair, at which time each insisted that they had only helped the other to dispose of our bodies after he (or she) had finished strangling us with a length of butcher's twine. Perhaps that explains the shortness of breath I get every time I pass a butchershop window. Here I was blaming the skyrocketing price of my favorite Porterhouse Steaks.

Anyway, nice to see you again. Circumstances have conspired to lead us down different paths during this lifetime, but I am certain we shall make the best of friends, having already walked in the shoes of starcrossed lovers.

Last year I read Aciman's gay-themed book and enjoyed it immensely. The prose was beautifully done, almost up to Waugh's in Brideshead.

Right now I'm reading Sorrow of an American By Siri Hustvedt, (Paul Auster's wife) which is enjoyable.

I see that you like psych crime so I must reccommend the obvious: Simenon/Maigret.

Sorry, but the mundane is about to encroach on my 4th: i.e. helping my ex spread some mulch over the flower beds. We actually get along ok and live in adjoining apartment buildings in a suburb of Detroit.

I love As Meat Loves Salt. My reaction to it was confusing ... I was devastated and uplifted at the same time. Usually I dissect books this time I think the book dissected me...strange...Powerful stuff. I hope she would write another book too.

Your books look good, especially A Dangerous Man & the upcoming Maloney's Law. I'm planning to go on a buying spree once PD Publishing releases ebooks, so I'll have to keep ML in mind.

Just curious though: how did you find me? Lol... Our libraries have no books in common, though the subject matter's pretty similar!
